Ouch! Thought you'd succeeded on that! Bad luck!
-
I wouldn't have made it.... Fastest I've gotten to Minmus is 5 days. Mind you, I don't have an orbital shipyard to build such craft.
-
Today we mourn Jebediah and Bill Kerman, for although their ship made it into orbit, the Krakken disassembled their ship quite neatly and they did not survive the experience. They are our brothers in space, and I hope they look favorably upon our future endeavors. Godspeed. Amen.

That's a pretty short window! Godspeed!

I don't know if anyone has had this happen, but as of my last two launches, it feels like ASAS/SAS isn't there. The ship pulls to one side, spins randomly over 2 axis. This effect occurs outside of atmosphere as well as in it. Engines on or off. Turning off the torque along with SAS/ASAS seems to mitigate it somewhat. So far, the only solution I have found is closing the client and reloading it, but that is only a temporary solution as it returns after playing for awhile. Thank you for your help in advance.

Just submitted Clue #2 Wewt!

Hmmm.... Setup a partial Geostationary communications network for my "Amazing Kerbal Race"-- I messed up and didn't have the fuel to get my initial 4 hour orbit, so I had to burn all the fuel from the bottom satellite and a smidgen of the middle satellite. I also noted that I cannot use all the dishes I've installed on the satellites cause I don't have enough power... >.< Still, the remaining two bird work well enough for local communications. I am expanding my communications network and having some errors in the process....
-
You just saved me at least 2 days... lol Edit: I take that back... I screwed up the first deployment of my GeoCommSat, so it'd be longer me thinks... lol
-
I am also guessing we are counting the time taken to build the infrastructure necessary to complete the clues (if necessary), right?
-
Alrighty... I have a question about the times. Given that we can now track times either based on the 6 hour Kerbin day, or Earth's 24 hour day, which days are being used?

Really? Not comparable at all? Lets actually look at the Wright Bros. ( Yes I know, not comparable at all.... Unless you actually look at them). The Wright flyer could only travel around 100 feet. It could carry 1 person over that distance and it needed 12 people and a weight powered catapult just to get it into the air. It's not hard to conclude that flight was just a really cool trick and nothing more. How many people do you think dismissed powered flight as a passing fad? How many people trotted out arguments why flight was ultimately doomed? Yet, a century later, we can see that powered flight was a good idea. However, with what was known then, given the performance of the invention at the time, do you really think that it would be a good investment? Not comparable at all. Lets see.... A horse and buggy, cheaper than hiring 12 people to go 100 feet.... Or you can get a ticket on a train.... and go farther than 100 feet. If you want to go across an ocean, (which the Wright Flyer couldn't do) you could get a ticket on an ocean liner. All the tech for railways, and steam ships was already there. Both could go farther, faster and more efficiently than the Wright Flyer. Again, not comparable at all. Before you state that something isn't comparable, you probably ought to do a little research into it. Maybe consider the circumstances of the time, or at least make an argument why it's not comparable before making a declarative statement like that. As it is, I see nothing in your post that suggests anything I stated previously is wrong. That being, Solar Roads are not feasible now, but might be in the future.

Any reason why KSP is mainly piloted space exploration?
Fizwalker replied to USAGuerrilla's topic in KSP1 Discussion
1) What? You want this to be easy? 2)Kerbals ALWAYS over engineer things..... 3)Moar Powah! Can't go wrong with MOAR POWAH! Yes, we Kerbals are a reckless lot. Why should we not go before the unKerballed probes.... ? Yes, more of us Kerbals might SURVIVE, but where is the fun in that?! How many times has Jeb piloted a ship doomed to failure and spectacular explosions only to return and pilot our next design into oblivion?! JEB MUST GO ON! -
Indeed there are many technical difficulties to be overcome, and the inventors might not have all the answers at this point in time--Or even most of the answers! Heck, the Wright Brothers didn't invent the aileron when they invented the airplane! I don't mean to suggest that what they propose will happen. However, I think it's something to watch. Perhaps the idea is before it's time (much like the submarine was prior to the late 1800's and a little over one hundred years later, said tech helps protect the U.S.N.'s nuclear deterrent with names that were previously used to name the primary ships of the battle fleet.) Thunderfoot brings up a lot of obstacles that must be over come in order to be implemented on any kind of scale, which in and of themselves don't mean the basic idea is wrong. A humorous kind of look at inventions can be seen in the following clip... https://myspace.com/bobnewhartmusic/music/song/merchandising-the-wright-brothers-31078829-31536821 I suppose bottom line is, that while all of Thunderfoot's reasons why it isn't feasible now are valid, it doesn't mean it won't be feasible in the future. So, while I might not support putting Solar Freakin' Roadways in their current form in place as the tech base is right this moment, I might be interested in what the refinements will be after, more research is done.

[1.1.2] Station Science (v2.0: New models by SpeedyB)
Fizwalker replied to ethernet's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'm running into a problem where the base Kerbalab, and observation module spins uncontrollably (With or without ASAS) in orbit. I'm going to see if I can narrow the problem down... I'm wondering if it has something to do with the shear number of mods I am using.... Will post more when I have more info. Having removed the mod, it still occurs... Testing to see if it's with the AIES mod.... Edit: Same problem occurred with AIES.... and someone suggested that MechJeb might be the issue. Removed MechJeb from the GameData folder and things seem good now. -
Sooooo..... I built a persistant ship to move around Kerbin and its moons... And started messing around with mods. When I got finished with that and loaded my save.... I apparently screwed up the installation of some mods with eliminated some parts.... And killed the ship I had previously put into orbit... >.<

I found them through an article that was written regarding a tweet from George Takei and apparently, generated over $1 Million in capital for the project. I agree that it would be great if it works as you say. The advantages appear obvious, but.... We're talking about governments... and just how honest? an proposition like this is. Frankly, I think it might get more traction over in Europe, than over here.... If it is real.
-
I use it. I know that Scott Manley uses it in his Interstellar Quest series.....

Double post deleted..... >.>

Beware of strangers exposing their goo!
-
Too late! Laughing aside though, it's very well done! I wish my career mode was far enough along to let me build stuff like that--Yes, I know, I can do it in sandbox.... but, this is my current challenge and I shall not shy away from it! On a different note, here is an image of my CM and MEM (Command Module and Munar Excursion Module) prior to Munar orbit.....
-
I call bull*****! That's a HummVee, not a Jeep!
-
I set up a geosynchronous communications network for Kerbin.... and then proceeded to run a few missions to the Mun...The first using the tweaked Aries (my version of the Saturn on a 2.5M scale) system to complete an Apollo style mission..... Due to operator error, the follow up missions have not.... Gone exactly to plan. This is an equivilante to the Saturn IVB booster... Gloriously pushing it's poor Kerbals towards unforeseen stress and possibly... Heartbreak. The above is my command module with the return portion of the lander docked to it.... Story here is that I had run out of electric on the lander and the crew managed to dock before the crew of the lander died.... Wewt! Follow up mission didn't meet quite so much success.... But... The launcher works, so when I ACTUALLY pay attention, I should be able to gain a lot more SCIENCE! Wewt! Wewt!
-
I sent a probe to Duna... and landed that nicely. This evening has been spent, first working out the kinks in launching Apollo-style CM and Lander to the Mun... And then, figuring out how to pop the fairings so I can extract the lander.....
-
Alrighty.... This morning showed that the module happily tumbling along fell into the ocean and blew up....
