  1. Y'know, I hadn't even considered the extra length of night on the Mun. It makes sense, though... What's the orbital period of the Mun? That's awesome. That's really, really awesome. How many RTGs are on there?
  2. Blizzy, you are a lifesaver. I spent hours today trying to dock with my first station, KerbalMir... I once got to within a couple of hundred metres before everything went wrong. I was reading the tutorials on the wiki to no avail. I get the feeling that I'm putting the cart a little before the horse is even more than a gleam in a stallion's eye. I feel your pain Apollo! Admittedly I gave up after eight or so hours, though. But my two Kerbals seem quite happy where they are, so I'm in no particular rush. Perhaps I should take the general idea of this thread and slow down a little.
  3. ... These custom action groups... Can I group anything into them? Damnit, I can use them to activate and de-activate engines and solar panels, can't I? Man, I wish I'd figured that out about twelve hours ago when I was launching my satellites.
  4. I love ion engines! Not sure why... I mean, they have all the thrust capability of a hard sneeze. But they look pretty cool, in a serene, spacey sort of way. (I also think that they look like the in-car cigarette lighters...) I mostly stick them on any satellite I fling up. Nice and light and very easy to make precise orbital adjustments with. But I haven't really experimented too much with the game (My hours have only recently hit double digits, unlike those who've clocked several hundred) so I don't really know what I'm doing just yet.
  5. Greetings and salutations! The name's Nick and I'm a budding chemical engineer stepping into the wonderful world of launching various hapless objects into space. I've only spent six or so hours in KSP so far, but I've come to realise that it's basically the Dwarf Fortress of flight sims... which is totally awesome. When I bought KSP I severely underestimated the level of technical knowledge, but hey. I've managed to get a handle on safe landings (Barring one where my parachute decided to self-cut, resulting in a spectacularly messy splashdown somewhere south of the Kerbil Space Center) and am currently experimenting with launching objects into orbit. Tried spaceplanes a few times; turns out I should never be a pilot, because my flying skills are somewhere between 'no' and 'Geneva wants words with me'. So hello! I hope to wander around these forums for many months yet.
