  1. Hey, thank you for the kind reply! The Shuttle was designed by Andrew Hawkins aka kingsknight, there is a link to the instructions ins this reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/lego/comments/8s51ln/lego_ideas_space_shuttle_free_instructions/ The Crawler and MLP (Mobile Launch Platform) were created by Grant Passmore aka eiffleman - instructions available on Lego ideas in the Updates: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/0f8efc2a-ce0a-4285-9f2b-036bf3eb9f38 There is a group on FB that collects and exchanges instructions for 1:110 Lego Space models, we have a couple of Kerbalists amongst us already: https://www.facebook.com/groups/legospacebuilds/ Regards!
  2. Arghs! You are right, Sir, please accept my appologies. And thank you!
  3. Here's what you see: (from left to right): Mercury Redstone (Sam Shepards first US space flight) Juno II Thor Delta (Grandfather of todays huge Delta V rockets!) Atlas Mercury (first US orbit!) Atlas Delta. After that, the small white rocket in front is a Juno I, also based on Redstone, used for the first US satellite... behind it is the Titan II which launched all Gemini flights - first US spacewalk. Vostok (in white and dark grey - Yuri Gagarin!) and, behind that, Soyuz, the most successful spaceship so far, flown since 1964 and still serving the ISS, easy recognizable distinct orange paint. Saturn V (Moon landing) and Saturn I (testing Apollo CSVs) and in front of them is Little Joe II, also with an Apollo CSM at the top. Titan III MOL - intended for the Manned Orbital Laboratory, of which only a dummy was launched on Launch Pad 34. US Space Shuttle carried by the NASA Crawler. More about each rocket and instructions for them at ametria.org/lego
  4. Hi, Windows 7 ultimate 64x here. Thinkpad T420s, fully updated drivers etc. Deleted 23.5 install. Downloaded x64 version of .24 Loaded - crashed. Loaded - created new game - crashed. Started again, opened the saved newly created game - crashed. So i guess x64 is not for me
  5. Just for the title alone. Also, for the bass solo in the middle. Then for the lyrics and the homesickness.
  6. So then, can aonyone help us out with this and tell us where those loading hints can be found?. I'm afraid m programming skills do not go far enough, and I am too lazy to grep my way through all the code.
  7. That so reminds me of this: Whackjob, you make KSP awesome.
  8. Hey, anyone know where those loading hints are stored? It would be fun to come up with more of them, instead of looking at the same ones all over again. "Tightening Kan Allen-belt" "Dropping Solar Flares" "Polishing Heat Shields" "Ductaping Struts" "Storing Hitchhikers" "Decontaminating Kethane" "Specifying Impulse" "booking gravitational assistance" (If some of these or all are not witty at all, I hope I will be forgiven, since I am not a native speaker) Regards
  9. Just as a short interjection: Why would anyone having expended a huge amount of efforts, money, and ressources to climb out of the gravity well want to go back there again so soon? Is that our monkey genetics? "MUST.... HUG...EARTH". From a purely economical point of view, it would be much easier to grab a couple of asteroids (mostly h2o, co2 and iron, so 95% of the stuff we need), and process those into whatever materials we require. The biggest difficulty will always be - until the advent of cheap abundant fusion and/or other means - the energy required to sustain our fragile Kerbals. Shipping stuff up and down planets, or even terraforming them, will take so much more energy than even building "ringworlds" or Halo installations. But of course that does not answers OPs question, so I´ll shut up now. Regards
  10. My son loves to watch me build stuff in the VAB, and even more so he likes planes and tells me what to do, but he refuses to let me launch them: "No no, I just want to look at them". He will actually start to wail when I start a launch. I think he is afraid that they crash, and even me showing him how I can bring them back did nothing to soothe him. He´ll turn four soon, maybe I can try again then.
  11. Whackjob one bricked the UNIVERSE because of excessive part count. Luckily, he managed to reboot, so nobody took notice. But if we ever found out, he would have to kill us all and restart.
  12. Hi, just wanted to share a wel-written, comprehensive and informed introduction into spaceflight propulion. Admittedly rather Newbie material, but I consider it a worthwhile read and enjoyed it a lot, which is why I wanted to share: http://www.vectorsite.net/tarokt.html (Vectorsite by Greg Goebel) Full disclosure: I am not affiliated, aquainted, related or in any other form involved in the website named above)
  13. Problem solved: I downloaded the parts from mediafire, and they worked. The previously used pack from kerblspaceport did not contain subfolders (capsules, science, etc) and did NOT work. Thanks, and happy rocketeering!
  14. Hi, thanks for the quick reply and the help. However, no luck here. Parts are in C:\KSP_win\GameData\GabysQuickAndDirtyMiscellania for example C:\KSP_win\GameData\GabysQuickAndDirtyMiscellania\parts\GQDM_7x3m_split however, they do not show up, a fatte they share with Weylands space station ring trusses. Can you let me know what needs to be done to the cfg-files, or where I can find information on how to "wrap" them? regards! P.S.: I was trying to build a Standfor Torus, but with the regular "plates" an eights of the Torus (which is launchable at ~150 tons) has app. 600 parts - a bit too much to assemble 8 of those in orbit
  15. Hi, the mod doesnt seem to work in 0.21.1 anymore :-( Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get the parts running in the newes version? Best regards
  16. Hi folks, tomorrow the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral will have a grand opening for its newest and biggest exhibition, the Space Shuttle Atlantis. They had a soft opening yesterday, and we were lucky enough to be there. It is truly amazing, and I am attaching a few pictures for your pleasure. The whole exhibition is of course much, much cooler than my amateurish pictures can convey: Regards Mnemon
  17. Let me be the first one to welcome you here. I had hoped for a long time that Randall would at some point mention KSP, since such a gem of a game somehow seemed fitting xkcd. I hope you all enjoy the game, go beyond the demo version (its well worth it!), and enjoy pulverizing haples Kerbonauts on Mun and all those other hard surfaces that can be found orbiting Kerbol. And, of course, I am grateful and happy that KSP has the official badge of cool now. Thanks, Randal, Thanks, Harverster & crew, for making the intertubs fun!
  18. Hmmm... Game hangs when installuing the pack, it loads parts up to NP_1mBigLanderTank and then stalls :-( havent tried reinstalling everything yet. KSP 15.0, since 15.1 seems to be buggy when it comes to attachment points with planes
  19. Hey, just to share, since there is a moonlanding Anonymous around: Finally managed to land AND return. Jeb wondered if the Mun was so cratered by all those other attempts of landing there he never heard again from. Trip went smoothe like an oiled kerbals head. Achived by 99% stock, I used a RCS-Tank by DownUnder accidentally. I\'ll attach the craft. Learnings: * I was surprised how little one does need to get there and back. My current ship 'Stockwolf II' is still overengineered, but it helped me to have the last stage attached to the landing craft till about 3000 m above surface, discard it, and use its impact to estimate how high the moon surface was. Plus it was a nice explosion. * Landing on the dark side of the moon sucks, I never figured out how to measure the distance that is still left to the surface, since surface often actually starts ~ 2000m above the sea level the meter seams to display. Cratered moon many a time with my prescious expendable kerbals. * Landing was achived without recurring to quicksave. The Sequence:
  20. Boy, if you have to come here to get an explanation on how to pop out Kerbals, I think you\'re way off. (Awesome mod, by the way)
  21. I got something to show today, too: The 'Kutuzov III'. Of course its my bad design: Too big, only 90% done (i.e. the rockets dont fire ALL when asked for) and could use alitte tweaking here and there. However, flies like a charm, even if she takes a little nudging to get to a stable orbit. Then, who needs a stable orbit if you can blow shit out of the sky? Fires 8 massive Interceptor vehicles with their own SAS for evasive maneuvers and last-minute course corrections. Currently launches two at once. Regards!
  22. Hey, Firstoff, thanks for this beautiful model - the texturing and the model are amazing! As others have said already, though, its not much fun using - its like a modern box of Legos that only ever builds one toy. With the current values, it does make no sense to combine any of the parts with the other packs/parts. Which is - for me - most of KSPs fun, not what beauty I can build from one carefully balanced and thought-though pack, but what own creations I can come up with while combining Silisko with the BFE5000 ^^ (sorry, Nova, only metaphorically speaking here). So its cute, i built the rocket once and launched it, and then deleted the parts again, cause they all fit together in exactly one way, and dont really combine with other packs. As some other poster already said, they feel like a cheat. Okay, after all that, let me tell you again that this rocket is the most beautiful model I have seen in KSP so far. If Andras gets the values right, I am sure they will become very popular. And, if my critizism annoys you, dont forget that I would never be able to create something like that in the first place. So respect and thanks! Best regards!
  23. Hey Mirage, care to attach your .craft to this thread? I\'d love to take a look at it. I am surprised no-one downloaded my rocket yet. Guess the construction is not realyl very fancy. OTOH, it launches with a very small amouot of struts required. The BFE-5000 is a little bit like the warp nascelles etc - you can easily tweak any kind of engine to behave that way, but if it strays off too far from the path of realism, it becomes not a challenge anymore and boring. Having said that, I am currently assembling a 'Solar Explorer' constructed mainly out of a big short tank lined with 72 Solar Cells (the one that refuel tanks). The idea is to have a spaceship capable of infinite travels, basically. And yes, I could also just mod an engine to use 0.001 fuel, but wheres the fun in that?
  24. well, as these things go, you learn to fly what you build. I wanted a rocket that could successfully use the X-L-boosters, so yes, thats the XL ones. @derhp: i know the rocket is way oversized for the payload, it wasnt built for efficiency but for the sake of using the XL boosters. I know how to fly it now and can get every third attempt into a transfer orbit - if it fails, it usually fails within the first 50 seconds and just topples over. Otherwise its pretty stable and does not wobble or rip apart. I might try launching the new Skylab with it, but more likely I\'ll concentrate on Kutuzov V and build something smaller but more efficient. Though I guess in my own poll I would have voted for 60% Poser and 40% Sytlist - I want BIG rockets, but I also want them to look good (and my spaceships apart from the moon landers usually have head shields & service modules & solar panes and stuff) And thanks for the kind replies.
  25. Finally! Arrived in true Kerbal style!
