  1. Justin is awesome. Like I said, you can learn a lot on your own with the vast amount of information available. An instructor is invaluable in helping you focus on what will get you to your goals more quickly as well as avoiding bad habits. Many music stores and schools regularly schedule free clinics. You might look into that as a possible alternative.
  2. If I understand you the problem is the sound from your guitar is late when it gets to your headphones. If you absolutely must use headphones and there is no aux input on your amp that can accept an audio signal (sounds like there isn't) then the next option is a small mixer. Behringer makes a line called Xenyx. Google that for an example of what I'm talking about. One channel in from the amp, the other channel in from the PC, mix and out to headphones. Most of the Xenyx line are also USB interfaces. Your amp is one too, if you can send audio into the PC over the USB. (Seems like I read you said that it did.) If your amp can play audio from the PC over it's USB connection (and I'd be a little shocked if it didn't if it can send audio TO the pc) and if it has a headphone out, that would also solve your problem. There are a couple of things mentioned in the thread that I can back up: 1) you can save a lot of money buying used. stuff shows up on CL, etc. and you can get real bargains if you are patient 2) gear won't help you get better, the exception being a guitar that is properly intonated and will stay in tune. If your guitar fails either of these and you're serious about playing, take it to a professional to see if there is any hope of having it set up correctly. If there is not, get a better guitar. 3) playing guitar takes a lot of patience and discipline, especially at first when you have no calluses and it can be literally painful. Keep it up. I'll add: 4) even 10 or 15 minutes a day, if focused, will contribute towards success 5) you'll get better a lot faster if you have an instructor who is trained to teach and is fluent in the style of music you want to play. You can learn a lot of stuff on your own, including bad habits. A good instructor can help you avoid those and also tell you where to focus your time and effort during practice. Good luck and keep it up! - - - Updated - - - Actually, there are two other pieces of gear that are also essential: a tuner and a metronome. Use both religiously and it will make you better, faster.
  3. Well, there is an option to turn on crossfeed with that part, iirc. I'm going to guess there's a hole in the API code or the mod itself that allows the state to get out of sync and thus report incorrectly.
  4. I never noticed the "cylinder begin" and "cylinder end" toggles before. It seems like if you just set "auto-shape off" they don't appear until you click off the tweakable popup and then right click on the part again.
  5. Chalk me up as Mr Impatient. Indeed right-clicking does work, you just need to right click several times before it makes a noticeable difference.
  6. I noticed the module manager dll in my gamedata directory, which came with this mod. After I got rid of that and the associated config files, my overheating issues disappeared. So, it must have over-written some of the modules by default? Seems odd and rude.
  7. Yes, PLEASE! - - - Updated - - - And this too!
  8. OP are you still wondering how to do this? I've been away for a few days. Others (I think) already answered the question you asked about audio interfaces.
  9. Thanks, I'll give it a shot. The zoom window itself is very tiny. Any way to make it bigger? - - - Updated - - - As I replied to another, I'll try it again. I'm pretty sure I've clicked every way possible already. I run at 2560 x 1440. Would that make a difference?
  10. I do not have any such mod installed. I haven't seen any messages since the first time after installing Procedural Parts.
  11. Installed this mod yesterday. I also have deadly reentry, which, when I installed that I had to fiddle with the config to get it to actually be dangerous at all. After I installed PP, I noticed some messages as the game was loading about updating various parts (sorry I don't recall what it said). Then when I launched a rocket, stuff started overheating and blowing up on the way out of the atmosphere. So, any clues about what happened and what I need to do to fix it? I suspect I just need to fiddle with DR again, but the bit about updating parts... what the heck was that about?
  12. I guess I'm not following what you're trying to do, but it sounds like you want advice about a USB (or firewire) audio interface.
  13. Is there a way to zoom in further with the big map? If I right click I get a very small popup window that does not seem to be zoomed in very far at all. There does not seem to be any way to increase the zoom level. It would be a big plus if the zoom window itself was able to be resized.
  14. It would be an interesting exercise to try and create a mod that features auto-leveling "gear" for craft. I used to kind of fake that with one of the robotics mods when I was playing heavily back around version 21.
  15. re: being able to control the shape of the fairings: I know there are structural fairings, but they seem to be even less adjustable than the interstage/aero ones.
  16. I did look at kerbal maps. Also very helpful. I kind of expected that scan-sat might reveal that level of detail. Perhaps it does but I just can't figure it out.
  17. I still can't get SCAN-sat to zoom in any further. I'll ask on the mod release thread. I did a few passes with my lander and used the slope readout to make note of likely places and found a nice wide open area for my base that way.
  18. I'm not seeing how to zoom in any further on the scan-sat big map. The zoom window is rather small, and does not appear to be zoomed much at all, really.
  19. Thanks for all the replies folks, especially the tips about Scansat showing the slope. I did see you could zoom in but didn't realize you can zoom in more than once. That will probably help. I've used KER for a long time but never noticed the info about slope since mainly I just use it to keep track of delta-v. I generally don't have trouble landing on a slope since my landers are low and wide, for the most part. Just, aesthetically, I'd much prefer to build a base somewhere reasonably flat. I'm embarrassed to admit I've never been to the Armstrong memorial.
  20. Other than eyeballing it, is there some way to discern the slope of the ground underneath a descending craft? And, to be honest, you simply can't eyeball it very well: ground that appears to be flat from several thousand meters up invariably has some degree of slope to it when the craft actually touches down. For one craft, it's not that big of a deal, but I'm thinking of building a base, and it would be nice to find a extended area of flat terrain to make that happen. I tried the SCAN-sat mod. It has a slope map, but I don't see any way to zoom in enough for it to be helpful for this purpose.
  21. I went away from the game for about a year, last time I played was .23-ish I think. I didn't have any trouble docking at that time. Now... sheesh. The target marker in the nav-ball jumps around all over the place. I can't match velocity to save my life. It's like the effing ships have a mind of their own. SAS seems to be broken, especially if any RCS is in play. Sometimes the rate of closure approaches 0 meters per second, but it does not stay there and sometimes I swear the two vessels are actually accelerating away from one another with no imput. These are very simple craft I'm trying to dock. I'm tempted to load up the old version and see if it's me, or the game.
  22. I've been away for over a year. The interstage fairing seem to be missing an adjustment that I used quite a bit before. For the conic fairing, it starts to angle in towards center as soon as it leaves the base plate. I remember being able to adjust how "tall" the fairing was before it started angling towards the center. Has this gone away?
