  1. First of all, I'm glad that you notice this so I can explain. About that clipping problem, I used special meta that i found for this, using 2 i-beams and a cubical strut I attached the 2 body parts, I know that actually 1 side is not attached, so I used 2 struts to reinforce it. About the fuel problem, I don't know about anything like this, I already used and tested this few times and did round trips to orbit with cargo and back to runway (actually this SSTO is for multi-use with KAS, and the probe core is for less non-cargo mass so it is more efficient. This SSTO use turbojets so its really not effective when flying low Maybe reading the flying guide at the X-20 thread will help you fly it more efficiently, you also may get some fuel from the middle engine to the engines on the side when in orbit because the middle engine have some spare fuel for the side engines to use.   2. The X-21 cargo SSTO Hello everyone, remember this ? This is my X-20 cargo SSTO, which was awesome and with it I made a whole space station and a lot more. You can see its thread here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/65301-The-X-20-stationmaker-cargo-SSTO?p=895764#post895764 Yet, this SSTO had some stuff which I had to improve: 1) Not a lot of a cargo area for its cargo captivity, it can lift 10t but usual 10t stuff need more place. 2) When its low of fuel it become less stable, so after it finishes his mission it has problems with landing. 3) It is looking good but not good enough. The new X-21 take care all of this 3 (actually you will tell me if it does), Now when it has less fuel it is actually more stable. (and it starts stable of course) here is a picture of it: It flies overall the same as the X-20 so for flight guide go for the X-20 thread.   3. Well, I also downloaded this mod but instead using the forum for DV, I Scott manly videos and the second: and some physic that I learn in school for the task.I calculated that without fraction you need 9300 DV to 110-110 orbit, so total of 9500-10000 for orbit. eldar158

  6. Welcome SSTO lovers , here I will show you my X-mini SSTO. The X-mini SSTO is 3.61 T of pure shuttleness, able to take 1 kerbal to most orbits (for station docking) With such ultralight weight, the X-mini is maybe the lightest functional SSTO ever (my jeb version even has less weight because the luck of wings less fuel and no docking port) The X-mini uses a landing legs instead of heavy landing gears, so it is actually a VTOL. Note* RCS is heavy so this plane has no RCS, you need to know to dock without RCS if you want to use it with your station. owner manual: action groups: 1) toggle jet 2) toggle rocket 3) toggle intakes SSTO mission lines: 1) toggle jets and full throttle activate SAS and fly 70 degrees until you got 10000. 2) for every spare 1000 meters from 10000 go 10 degrees down (in 17000 stay 0 degrees) 3) earn some speed, you should have a APO of 100000-200000 4) after getting out of the atmosphere time warp to APO, circularize with the rocket and you done 5) for landing descent like a plane, than were you are lower than 1000 meters stall (pitch until you are vertical) and open the chute with space or abort. 6) open landing legs, use the jet, the rocket or both for slowing down before impact. download link: http://speedy.sh/5jUw8/X-mini.craft (no software needed , the website will give you the X-mini file) Picture of the X-mini on the ISS: Note* the small thing near the solar panels is actually the X-20 cargo SSTO , leaving the station after he brought the last module in. Hi, I saw your rover and I think its awsome, gj About improvements, you can simplify it and decrease weight by doing this: 1) remove all struts except for 3, they are heavy 2) remove all or part of your non-drudge chutes, you got rockets for final decent. 3) remove the saperatrons, you can just use the remaining liquid fuel for removing the debree. 4) also replace the sas with reaction wheel. Very nice craft, locking great and SSTO are sometimes very hard together and yours do both About that thing that if you abort and don't shut down the rocket engines I have a solution for you, go to action groups and add on the abort action group the "shut down" command of the jets and the rockets. eldar158
  11. Hello everybody, today I made a new VTOL , which is my first actually working VTOL, and sent it to the mun and back. I wanted a SSTO VTOL to go to the mun and back, with a single kerbal and I wanted it to be able to do it without drop tanks. So first i tried something that looks like cupcake's pixie and it was unstable so i change design to the one you see now. This awesome SSTO have only 21 parts, weights only 7.71t and is DRE and TAC proof () . (TAC make capsules heavier and you need electricity food water and etc to survive...) The horse is also minmus capable (if you use TAC add small life support tank) with fuel to spare and i guess he can do 1 way trip to duna too. Here is my trip to the mun with my horse: I cant use the imgur album somehow... as you see it says that he got error and i dont know why , can anyone help please ? mid while you can see it here: http://imgur.com/a/67Ref Owner manual: Action groups: 1) Toggle jet 2) Toggle rocket 3) Toggle intakes (there are 5 intakes) 4) Toggle ladder Flight manual: For so small thing to get to the mun and back you must fly it very well, you got only 20-30 fuel to spare, if you dont use TAC maybe 40. 1) Toggle jet and full throttle until 10000m 2) Slowly tilt to 40 degrees until 15000, look at the mup and keep your APO 5-20 sec from you (5 better than 20) 3) You should run out of air when you already something like 2000-2100 m/s, use your rocket to keep your APO above 70000 4) Circularize 5) Like a normal mun rocket do all the rest, when landing back on kerbin use your jet with 35% trust limiter and your rocket to do your final landing (almost impossible just with jet because its delay) For further help please ask and I will help you gladly.   12. well thanks very much guys, i worked a lot on this design. For making the cargo bay I started with a clamp-o-tron as a root part and put the jet fuel tank behind it used the beams for the structure and for close it i use cubic structural strut upside down and connect the next fuel tank to the edge which is inner.   13. Hello everybody, Im proud to present you one of my recent cargo SSTO which called the X-20 or in his nickname the "stationmaker" , also I will show you how I built a space station with It. The X-20 main target is to create space station in LKO , but unlike most SSTO he got a 2m (and a bit more) cargo bay so you can get your crew storage and labs to space. The X-20 have no RCS because its a cargo plane, when building stations he brings a tag with the first or second part for docking all stuff together. The X-20 can be attachable as subassembly, his root part is a docking port. Note that unlike other SSTO the x-20 is not airhog, having 7 intakes for 3 engines (2.3... ratio). Some details: Weight: 17.2 tons Cargo max weight: until 6-7 tons (max payload taken is 6 but without a problem) Part count: 54 Jets: 3 turbo Rockets: 2 lv-909 Fuel: liquid fuel: 880 oxidizer: 792 (tweaked for fuel balance from 880) Electricity: 430, 1 2*3 solar panel. Owner manual: Action group: 1) Toggle jets 2) Toggle rockets 3) Toggle intakes 4) Toggle solar panel. Flight manual: 1) After making the cargo attach the X-20 from the subassembly category than launch. 2) Press 1 for activating jets, takeoff and fly 60 degrees until in height of 10km than go 30 degrees. 3) In 18000 go 20 degrees and slowly go horizontally as much as you can without stop climing. 4) Watch for engine flame out, when it will happen the X-20 wont lose control fast so than press 1 and activate the tail jet again, and activate with 2 the rockets. 5) Now get some more speed and go orbital, when out of the atmosphere open the solar panel with 4. 6) Unleash cargo 7) Deorbit and land somewhere.   14. About the rescue system, it is stable and you can land the plane with only using the wing. But if you do wrong movement it can spin a bit, for this you got the parachute. I must say, what special in this design and what made me upload it was this rescue system. Eldar158
  15. Hello everybody, here i will introduce you my second SSTO in my X series which should work with space stations. The X-17 main target is to fly 4 passengers to and from space station around orbit and in the mun (I didn't check it with the mun yet but it should work there.) The X-17 has RCS and docking port for docking, and lv-909 for the orbital maneuvering. The X-17 has a very special emergency system which can rescue your kerbals almost from every situation, what make this plane be a very safe one. The rescue system decouple in "abort" , has wings from the original plane and 2 parachutes to land (the wings for getting back to SC or to fall somewhere safe, the system also got some fuel and 2 ants engines for saving yourself from being stock in space. Note that if you will open the parachutes low in high speed it will rip the sitting kerbals from their seats so use it only when slow or if it is your only option, the wings should be your way to land. The X-17 is flown as any SSTO, except for takeoff you need to get up the landing gear at 80 m/s and pull up. For further flying instruction please tell me in post.   16. Nothing is impossible as well all is possible, its needs 0 proofs. The only thing that i think is impotent is life, a self awaring, because it is the only thing that we can know really. Anything you can imagine or not to is true somewhere, maybe even a situation where this theory is false. Why it exist ? Why not. Thats quite explain it all. Eldar158
  17. So you need expended instructions ? NO PROBLEM 1) press launch, activate the jet engine with stage (space key) 2) fly at full power until you are in altitude of 7000 meters, then start to tilt your craft east until you are 45 degrees to the ground. 3) fly 45 degrees until the air (at the resources) is lower then 0.10 , then reduce power slowly to use the jet without flame out like with SSTO. 4) when you see the jet have no more thrust press stage to decouple and activate the rocket, then go full power until your APO is 72 km. (for duna) 5) now wait until you get the APO and circularize, the fuel should run out bit before orbit so use some fuel from the transfer stage, it is designed to do this. 6) you are now in orbit, now do duna transfer and land with parachute. Hello everybody, here i will show you the awesome atlas mini launcher The atlas mini weight only 2.31 ton and can get a maximum of 1 ton into orbit. a payload/weight ratio of 0.4329 (around 43%) The atlas mini got only 10 parts ! 12 on the reusable version. The atlas mini uses a turbojet for first stage and then a rockmax 48-7s for orbit. I also got a reusable version of it, not yet optimized. how to fly: 1) stage for activating jet. 2) go straight up until 7000-8000 m and then go 45 degrees east. 3) when u see that you start running out of air slowly reduce thrust, try to use as much as you can from the jet. 4) press stage, use the rocket for getting to your wanted APO. 5) circularize, for getting the second stage back o earth decouple it early or use you probe thrust (or any other solution) to push it back to earth. 6) now you are in orbit WARNING!!!: the jet is really powerful so at low payloads it may get you to 150-or more APO so go even 70-80 degrees . links: the normal version: http://speedy.sh/nC2BB/atlas-mini.craft the reusable version (not yet optimized): http://speedy.sh/NYerr/atlas-mini-RE.craft I have so much to tell on it but i prefer that you will download it and see yourself, I already sent it to someone to check and the comment was good And now for another amazing thing, remember the scotter 3 rover i posted not long ago ? I posted it for that. I launched that rover to duna with this launcher, the rover+transfer+landing= 1.09 ton, the launcher 2.3, and added a probe core in the launcher second stage for stabilizing. all the pack is 3.4 ton... i think this is the smallest rover pack or even the smallest thing landed or even flyby duna ! The rover itself can drive at 7-8 m/s normal and 10+ at down ways. it is very stable so you can drive it even 4* time acceleration, if it flips the torque power can flip it back up again. I even had around 5 fuel left. I call it scotter because his a bit narrow (but very stable) structure reminds me a scooter and because scott manly.
