It could very well be that they assume anything that close to Eve sea level would implode from pressure. But I liked the sound of explodium better. Or it could be what you said. The amount of effort to add exploding buildings was roughly 2 days. From the looks of the effect it looks like it was something included with their new explosion assets they incorperated in .25. So they probably figured why not let's turn the function on, create some rubble buildings and pop it in there before the weekend. It's now being called squad is losing its sights on scope, feature creep, etc. So...how do we know this wasn't in the original scope of the game? We don't unless you have/had Max's Magic Kerbal Notebook.
