How can I have the original crew 100% of the time?
flaillomanz replied to flaillomanz's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Oh yeah? Well, I made one which was so wide and thick, it clipped the launch tower and turned into about 30 separate rockets flying around, with my command module somehow intact, flying through a shitstorm of loose parts and SRB\'s. Well, it WAS intact, until one of the errant SRBs clipped the parachute, knocking it off the CM but somehow not exploding. Which is rather strange considering their impact tolerances. Anyway, from that point forward the crew\'s fate was sealed. -
Episode Nine: Two Birds With One Stone

I DEMAND merch of this. -
Well, the intro should have a short synth sound, like for the intro of this budding series on ksp: As for some misc. music, I\'ll vote for 'My Canary has Circles Under his Eyes' by the Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band. None of the youtube uploads or music site previews I can find really show off the song as it is meant to be; there\'s one youtube video with half the audio so quiet it\'s impossible to hear. I might link to a preview, after finding the copyright information.

How can I have the original crew 100% of the time?

With my flying style? -
I was so proud of myself for making this. It took me 5 minutes total just to order the stages correctly. Little did I realize that the launch tower has a ledge. I did not notice the small explosion, considering that I had a number of smaller parts which were designed to decouple and explode after launch (I was using them to keep the lowermost SRBs from disconnecting from the weight of the ship above it.) All I knew was that just after clearing the tower, it nosedived over it in a very large explosion. So I naturally decided to see if the AR202 Ascent Autopilot could help me. Turns out, I was using the wrong version of AR202 for the version of KSP I had at the time. This caused it to launch all the stages at once. Jeb thought it was very pretty though... half a millisecond before his rather untimely death. It took me a total of 35 launches to realize it was the launch tower impeding my attempts at space.

How can I have the original crew 100% of the time?
flaillomanz replied to flaillomanz's topic in KSP1 Discussion
From what I\'ve read here so far, I doubt it, but I\'m no expert. -
Here\'s one... try making a craft that can firstly reach Kerbin escape velocity, bring it out of it\'s influence, then pilot it back to Kerbin. Or, try slingshot around the Mun to reach Minimus, and land... it doesn\'t count if you don\'t get at least a partial Munar orbit. For the one above, try orbit the Mun once, then either slingshot around Kerbin to Minimus, or straight to minimus. Oh, maybe try slingshot around minimus then back to the mun... Hey, this is getting repetitive.

How can I have the original crew 100% of the time?
flaillomanz replied to flaillomanz's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Their state tells the game what condition they are in, I think mine are in space or dead, and it has to be set to 1 so they come back, if you only want them though it might work if you delete all the other crew so KSP can only choose our heroes. May I just say that that\'s bloody cool. I\'ll see if this does the trick; in the meantime, maybe someone could politely pester Harv about getting the selectable crews implemented asap. -
How can I have the original crew 100% of the time?
flaillomanz replied to flaillomanz's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Really? hmm... i\'m getting randomly generated crews all the time, on 150+ consecutive launches, and have yet to see the legendary trio. I want them so badly right now. I mean, instead of having randomly generated crews. -

Of course.People who pirate Indie games deserve to be slapped. People who haven\'t yet brought this game deserve to be drop-kicked. -

The wierd, wild and wacky properties of wings

Why does nobody but me find this fascinating? Stop studying kerbal anatomy and get over here! -
As a budding Mad Scientist (Rocketry division), I have gone about the task of experimenting with wings with considerable gusto. Today I will share my experiments with wings - and their apparent unconcern for the laws of physics. Wings generate lift. Well, yes, that\'s obvious - but the thing is, they appear to constantly generate lift while moving, which becomes apparent in large catastrophic failures or when observing wings which have splashed down. With this in mind, I sought out the mad projects I could use wings in - and today, I have achieved my goal. Take a look at this ungainly craft. Ugly, isn\'t it? But, the special thing about this particular craft is that it does not require engines. By simply elevating the flaps, I can cause this craft, while on the ground, to accelerate up to 80m/s. Turning the rudder yields another 20m/s, until it flips from the centrifugal force. This is very good news for you explorers out there - fuel is now easily conservable. You only need the engines for ocean-hopping or mountain-climbing, as most of the smaller hills and plains are readily traversable in my magnificent machine. move wings = more lift. more wings also = more lift. Please don\'t nerf this, harv. :< Now take a look at this compact and ungainly craft. Again, quite ugly. But this craft is special. It can take off at around 20m/s, and glides 50 meters for every one it drops. I\'ll leave judgement of these things to you. Now, if you would be so kind, please share your own knowledge and experiences with wings below. Screenshots and videos welcomed, just remember those [ spoiler ] tags.

Just so long as they keep a sandbox mode open (Yes, with everything unlocked - I play this game solely because it is currently a sandbox) I\'m in agreement. I hope that Harvester and the other devs don\'t take half the fun out of the game by making everything cost 'money' or have to be 'unlocked' before it can be used in said sandbox.

Ok, so this thread should be dedicated to merchandise ideas. To get the ball rolling, my own idea is a USB version of the Staples® 'Easy' button! (As shown below!) It should say 'Launch' or 'Abort', and play a siren when pressed, while functioning as a spacebar! If the KSP team add an abort function, this could be the greatest accessory to your rocketeering career. Give me some feedback or post your own merch ideas below!
