  1. Who has time for math? If at first you don't succeed, build bigger!
  2. I tried it. I didn't care much for it. For me, not very many maneuvers are simple and routine because I am constantly trying to build new styles and designs. It's hard to get a feel for how they perform if I'm not actually controlling the stick.
  3. For something that has been in use for 2000+ years, and effectively, referring to it as a mess that makes no sense is not all that accurate. I understand people's view on the whole religion thing, but let's not get stupid. The amount of religious references in our world are astronomical. If we change the calendar, then the days, and months, then we would have to rename the planets, plus rockets, ships, chemicals, basically everything in our entire knowledge because all of it somehow links to a religion of some sort somewhere. Just how far should we go? Or is it just Christianity that we should be against?
  4. Right now it has an excellent balance (not counting bugs and other parts which aren't completed.) Squad has hit that middle ground right where it needs to be and I imagine it will stay there. If it gets much more complicated, it will have too steep of a learning curve to appeal to a large number of players. Same with making it too cartoony and simplistic. It needs to remain light-hearted and fun while still being believable.
  5. Huh. My flight to Gilly and back took over 300 days. Clearly i need to work on my transfer window timing.
  6. There's been very few games which have captured my attention as much as KSP. I play almost daily. The shiny newness has wore off and I may not play for long at a time, but it still drags me in and with every update I get a new fervor for playing. Squad has truly made something amazing. Now if I could figure out how to build a real rocket and real the moon, life would be perfect.
  7. The nukes are a bit annoying. Oh why oh why can't they sleeve like the others? Lol.
  8. Whew! For a minute I was worried I was going to have to spend more money to feed my Kerbal addiction!
  9. Maybe this has been discussed, maybe it hasn't. I tried searching for threads on it and I'm not even sure this is posted in the right place. All that said, here's the rub. Has anyone else came upon a mod on the SpacePort that had a "BUY" button instead of "Download?" I just came across one and was a little disturbed by it. I enjoy playing with mods. I don't use a tremendous amount, but some just fix things that need fixed and I am grateful for the modders that have the capability to do that. The part that worries me is the potential for Squad to suddenly start releasing purchasable DLC content. Some companies do DLC alright, others make it a requirement to buy certain "updates" to even make the base game fixed enough to enjoy. I worry Squad may begin to start charging people to download mods. Or worse yet, institute some type of Squad-only coin like current mmo games are doing for the "extra" content. If it is just for mod devs to be able to make money on their mods, that's great. Any thoughts?
  10. So what does that translate to for KSP? We will just float next to it? I would hope they would stretch realism enough so that it is a bit more exciting than that.
  11. Um, I thought the whole idea of the NASA (and KSP) mission is to land on an asteroid. You're basically saying that isn't possible or even if you did manage to actually do it, the ship would just be sitting there gingerly and even the slightest movement would send it drifting away from the asteroid, making an EVA entirely not possible. So if that is the case, why would they want to land on an asteroid?
  12. I may have missed it in the previous pages, but if not what about KerBills?
  13. I have several enhancement mods such as Kerbal Engineer, KJR and enhanced navball. I keep my part options limited to functionality such as KAS and RemoteTech. I'm not a fan of the large replacer packs for the same reasons you just stated.
  14. I'm sort of the opposite. If I am wanting to learn more about the game, I want to watch a stock video. Some of the mods out there drastically change the way the game is played and can be really confusing.
  15. For creating something you intentionally want spinning, I can see it being a problem. On the flip side, I would rather have the rotation stopped immediately as opposed to the spin being stuck on rails as well as the craft (unless I was designing it to rotate.) If I have RCS or SAS, then the SAS should continue to function properly under time acceleration, the ship should eventually stop. In that sense, the stock way of doing things is more accurate than the idea of it continually spinning without any SAS being applied until time warp is turned off (which is the way I understand this mod works, please correct me if I am wrong on that.) I would love to see it function properly, but not go from one extreme of insta-kill rotation to the other of forever spin. EDIT: I see he has since updated the mod for SAS to work more properly. Still needs some tweaking, but I think it is on the right track.
  16. Add that to the "things I've learned today when I should be working and not sitting on the internet." Woot! Thanks!
  17. Please don't take this the wrong way, but if killing rotation in stock is a bug, I hope they never fix it. It really isn't an issue.
  18. I don't technically deorbit the junk, but I do destroy it at the tracking station.
  19. So the problem isn't quite like in KSP where the fuel has to go into another tank first. I would assume there would be a valve switching between the two tanks and when the outer tank is dry, the valve switches to the inner tank? That makes much more sense than trying to pump fuel out of one tank and into the other just to pump it back into the engine. Lol.
  20. Talking about asparagus in real life and why NASA doesn't use it, has anyone given any thought to the physics needed to pump fuel the the very bottom of one tank, to the top of the other, all while continually accelerating? I'm not sure the physics of gravity would allow the liquid to be pumped in that fashion. It's like trying to lean forward in a car as it is accelerating. Now do it vertically. Just a thought. Any ideas?
  21. Wouldn't it make more sense to use the most powerful? Your burn time would be considerably less and as a result you would need a lot less fuel tonnage. Might not be the most efficient, but would it be doable?
  22. Exactly! The darn Mun always moved! lol!
