  1. So am I the only person who upon firing up the game for the very first time, built a generic looking rocket using minimal parts, launched and pointed the thing straight at the moon thinking that would get me there? Then when I started going backwards until I crashed and realized something was wrong, I built an even BIGGER rocket and attempted to repeat the entire process? Orbital mechanics were consistently lost on me for the first few launches! As the moon continued to move out of my firing line and I would try my hardest to correct, but just never could seem to catch up before running out of fuel. With a few thousand launches now out of the way, I finally have most concepts at least understood. Interplanetary transfer is still a lost cause though. Getting out of Kerbin's SoI is easy enough. timing is a whole different matter! Lol!
  2. The only time i have noticed a problem with it is if i try to attach a sub assembly that has struts connecting to an upper structure that are no longer there such as a shorter/smaller payload.
  3. The Kraken just totally destroyed a save file for me. As two ships approached each other under warp to prepare to enter docking range, the uncontrolled ship disappeared and reappeared stuck on the other side of he mun with a negative distance of over 1 million kilometers. I couldn't switch to it either. Any attempts at launching any new rescue vessels to retrieve anyone off of either ship has been met with CTD's now. Bummer too
  4. Huh. I thought all of those features were supposed to improve the overall performance. It sez so on da packages!
  5. Well I have an ATI 6670 with 1Gb VRAM on a dual core 2.4 Ghz AMD with 8 gigs ram running Win7x64. My wife has a Geforce 8800GTS with 320MB VRAM on a dual core 2.1Ghz with 4gb ram running Win7x64. This is the only game that she gets better framerates than I, and can even use higher settings. The only other difference is hers only has the Demo installed. Any suggestions? PhysX would certainly explain it.
  6. Editing game files it totally different to most people over a built-in meant to be used mechanic like time-warping. Harvester is dead on with this. Making it take time would only hinder the realists or extremists. As career mode is fleshed out, I'm sure contracts and reputation will add plenty to establish continual missions.
  7. That would totally explain why my framerate is worse on my ATI card over my wife's NVidia which is several years older! I knew I should have stuck with Nvidia.
  8. I actually think the opposite. PDCWolf wants to see it expand beyond it current limits. I am also in favor of the wobble fix, but I am happy to just use a mod until it is properly fixed. I would rather see an entire physics improvement instead of just patch-working here and there. While that may tackle a specific problem (such as wobble), eventually the thing would end up so cobbled together that it would need a complete rebuild anyway.
  9. I have one quick suggestion to consider. Get into a stable orbit first, then retrograde completely horizontal until your orbital velocity is zero. Once you start falling down, you will drop almost straight down then it only takes slight adjustments to correct and leaves your craft upright the whole way down. Landings were extremely difficult for me to figure out until I found this trick. To find a flat spot (or mostly flat), set a marker on your orbit above a spot that looks good and free of craters, using the retro adjustment to get a vertical line. Once it is vertical, you can drag it around your orbit until it is in just the right spot to give the best chance at a smooth, vertical descent onto flat land.
  10. So you don't want to see an engine trail in space? Gosh how boring that would be. Not to mention terrible screenshots. Every ship would just be "floating" and you couldn't ever get the "cinematic" effect. I personally think the SRB trails look really nice. Could eye-candy be improved? Sure. Is it a priority? Hardly. You want something that would need to be powered by the latest and greatest machine with volumetric smokes, heat disturbance, shock diamonds, and basically everything else which would totally remove the cartoonyness of the game. But I guess that goes back to your original stance of removing the wobble. And 0.18 was the last update to add anything? Really? And long development times? Geez man learn some patience. No wonder you're so pissed about wobble. You have no patience at all.
  11. What's wrong with the engine FX? I think they are just fine. As for wobble, KJR does a good job of removing the wobble while still making rockets susceptible to excessive forces. For those that think we should not need a mod to fix a bug, keep in mind this is still an alpha release and is still quite some time away from a launch. For an alpha, this game is very well polished. Bugs will get fixed or improved as the game continues to progress.
  12. Did anyone see this article? I knew an economy was coming, bit I guess I never expected it to include reputation, cash and science as interchangeable currencies. Very nice, Squad! Pc Gamer
  13. Hydraulic hinges would be nice. Some way of making doors, ramps, or movable engines.
  14. Holy wow! i never even knew there was an "abort" action group let alone a hotkey for it! I just assumed the "Abort" button on the altimeter was something not actually implemented yet! I am so playing around with this! While possibly pointless (atm), it does sound like fun!
  15. Some people's level of creativity just astounds me! Those are epic AND you managed to actually get them in space without Hyperedit. I'm not really interested in multiplayer, but you sir, are something else! Good form!
  16. Try angling the wings upward so that the weight sits below and in front the lift. Also, add some small control surfaces to the front (but keep the CoM in front of he CoL, so it might require moving the main wings back some.) Works for me, but I don't do a whole lot with space planes.
  17. I'm afraid I don't know a whole hell of a lot when it comes to rocket design and spacecraft. From the discussion, I can gather that an escape tower or an L.E.S.. is some sort of system that allows the pilots to survive a catastrophe, but could someone give me an example of how to do it in-game? I guess I'm not quite grasping the idea when capsules are usually outfitted with chutes to return as it is.
  18. Now this is an awesome addition! Now things won't have to always be so... balanced? No more counter-weights for the side-mounted rovers.
  19. I really have no desire to attempt to play this game multiplayer. I had really been looking forward to resources. I am sorry to see that being put off and if more sad to see that they caved into the small group constantly screaming about multiplayer despite the numerous insistence from Squad that there would be none. It is what it is I guess. I hope they don't flip around on any other gameplay elements. It would be a shame to see weapons and warp drives suddenly appear as well.
  20. Not had any of those. I did have one ship get krackened when loading it from the space center. It was in orbit around Kerbin and as soon as it loaded, it went boom. Every piece. Not one shred of debris. The only other bug I have encountered is I tried to have a kerbal disembark from a command pod laying on it's side with the door turned close to the ground, with the craft busy transmitting science and it would CTD. I was able to do it twice in a row, once on Mun and once on Kerbin. Don't ask why the command pod was laying sideways Aside from those, I haven't experienced any bugs that I have noticed, except for the occasional mod malfunction, but that is with the mod and not Squad.
  21. Pluto will always be a planet to me as well. My first space love was Wing Commander: Privateer. I've been hooked on space games ever since.
  22. I gre up with an Atari and NES, but this is the game that sold me on PC gaming.
  23. I've never cared for class-based systems. They were fine until I played my first RPG without classes (Fallout 1.) Since then, being forced into a set class has been a huge turn-off and ruined what otherwise could have been great games. I would prefer to be able to train my Kerbals how I want them.
  24. I totally like this idea! Be able to change the color of the suit and pick which tools it has , or at the very least be able to select from a list of suits designed for different tasks. Suit parts/options could even be tied into te research tree.
