Unless the Kerbal Space Administration is sexist, there is no indication that there is more than one gender within the Kerbal community.
I just said that there is no post in that thread where Squad mentions the number of Kerbal genders.
Secondly, what would female Kerbal add to the game? It seems like it would just be a useless thing that Dan has to animate.
Hence, why I said 'If it ever happens.'
I didn\'t say it will happen. I didn\'t say that it won\'t.
-
As evidenced by the general sentiment (judging by the content of the first few posts,) Kerbals are unisexual.
First of all, what evidence? I don\'t see any input from a Squad dev saying 'Yeah, Kerbals are a unisex species.' All the posts are from other players who have no knowledge of Kerbal Lore (Or even refer to dev input), and as such, shouldn\'t be taken seriously.
Second, Timmon26 has what I think is the perfect interpretation of a female Kerbal. On those comics, especially in the Odyssey drawing, you can look at these and say 'That is most certainly a female Kerbal,' without even having to look below the neck. Really, would you be able to easily identify their gender when they have a space suit on without looking at their face?
If it ever happens, there\'s already a good reference to how they should look.
-
Which isn\'t what I said. I\'ve made no assumptions and made no use of the word 'assume' or any variation in any part of the post.
Again, tell me where any amount of g-force above two during reentry would be unrealistic.
-
...it\'s unrealistic to re-enter at higher than 3 or 5 G, even though the kerbals are pretty resistant since G Force consequences aren\'t added yet, but when they will, EVERYONE will be waiting 11 minutes.
Source?
The Space Shuttle would go through 3g during reentry, and pods would go as high as 7g.
Tell me where it will be required that we have to reenter at 2g\'s or less.
You don\'t know how reentry is going to be on Kerbin when the mechanic is added. Don\'t even try to say what\'s realistic or not.
-
Okay, so what are you people doing wrong that make reentries take 11 minutes? I\'m calling hardcore BS on this.
At a relatively flat rate of decline, I went from 70Km to touchdown in four minutes. I just did this on one of my launches literally no more than two minutes ago.
It takes longer to establish orbit than it does to make reentry.
-
It\'s not like 2x is going to come back if it screws with the physics, so what else is there left to say? Everyone\'s going to have to deal with it whether they like not having 2x time compression or not.
-
2x time compression was removed so 100,000x could be used instead. A much better tradeoff I think; orbiting Kerbol doesn\'t take absurd amounts of time now.
Edit:
Also, allowing 5x compression to work in-atmosphere would simply do the same thing that 2x did.

I have rockets with \'only\' 3 of those large engines, pushing a 2nd stage with a single stack of tanks, do the same.
Imo the parts are weak in this release.
So do I. And they use four struts per stack decoupler yet they don\'t break. Lower your throttle position.
Anyway, I noticed that at 30% throttle the craft takes a hit of ten g\'s, which in most of my experiences with large craft it usually always results in the craft tearing itself apart, as I assumed it does earlier.
If I\'m going to try getting this off the ground (Which is pretty taxing for the game), I\'ll have to try even lower throttle settings. Though I\'m thinking any lower will lead to it not lifting off.
-
My first-glance guess is that the thrust is causing it to collapse into itself.
-
We talking hours or days?
When it happens.
Assuming soonTM is the same soon or of a similar soon as this soon.
-
20 thrust now compared to 50 then, yes it is.
-
I guess it\'s underpowered if you\'re trying to do a powered landing in Kerbin, but it\'s insanely efficient for landing on the Mun.
I had it on constant burn starting at 5Km from the surface and made a nice, soft landing while using a mere 5% of the tank\'s fuel.
-
too sad... All my previous rockets can\'t be use anymore. And I\'m not a big fan of those giantic fuel tank...
My main point is that I\'ve lost all my current missions, and more important, all my spaceships.. That\'s a bit hard
So did everyone else. Compatability breaks between updates and it\'s going to continue breaking for a long time.
-
Outstanding! Time to redesign my craft then and check out what\'s new in stock.
-
Does the fire diamond say 11-11-11-S? ???
From Hell\'s heart, I stab at thee, placard!
Though short, I really enjoy the feel of the music, great work Squad.

The thing about getting new versions of KSP as it progresses is in the Store page before you add an order to your cart. If I remember right, that message was always there from the beginning, when the pre-order was 5USD.
That\'s something different, you get the new versions as time passes. The question here is if we\'re getting the older versions back.
I couldn\'t say, I only know of the one post from nine months ago and that might have changed without notice.
-
There never was a post like this from any Squad member, it was something Sordid relayed some time ago,
So I\'ve just spoken to Harv about this. He says he plans to eventually release all the previous versions (which is to say all of them, down to the 0.0 prototype), 'soon'.
Given that nothing was mentioned of since then, it\'s a possibility that it was forgotten or like other things, it\'s another one of those matters being considered for a much, much later date.
-
Turns out there was an update on the 17th, but nothing on the News section came up until just now.
The ability to select multiple special weapons; that\'s pretty neat, though that has extreme game-breaking potential for modders (Picture the Nosferatu with the EML and ADMM in one sortie! ).
But the real gem in this is Debug Mode, used with right Shift+D. With this on, it pauses the game while still allowing you to move the camera, in addition to using several camera modes to freely wander about the mission map, your plane, other objects in the mission (Planes, vehicles, structures), and a projectile camera.
In other words, it\'s screenshot galore waiting to happen.
For kicks? You can control those other planes and vehicles. And use their weapons.
Just try not to intentionally crash the other aircraft...the game doesn\'t like that and it will CTD.
-
Because the explosions were far enough away that they won\'t panic.
-
The one thing I would do for the J-35J is get rid of that damn swordfish (Marlin? Some weird shark thing?) on the first and third color schemes.
-
With its modability, I guarantee you that superfighters (particularly Wyverns and Falkens) will be in the game, whether stock or not.
ADFX-01. <3
I hope the Ace Infinity group can make it happen.
Of course, the real challenge they face in the game\'s infancy as a modding community is in adding more members and staying active.
-
Look at it this way, it\'s guarenteed to be ready when you\'re back.
Sweet, the texture files for the aircraft are in .dds format, it\'ll be just like modifying the maps of FreeSpace ships.
-
I personnaly dont want to use mods unless theres a sandbox type scenerio. Having part mods inserted while playing career would surely kill the game if you have missions/tasks to do, which should be achieved with vanilla parts
Then don\'t use them when there\'s a Career Mode. Simple as that.
This is from an old post by HarvesteR:
I see no problem with including mod parts even in career mode.
...it will only affect gameplay if you choose to install mod parts and use them in career mode.
-
I don\'t want to be a downer but I think it a terrible idea to raise the price too much. I think 20 is even pushing it a little. At the moment none of the gameplay mechanics are implemented. By that i mean missions, campaign, etc. If its priced too high new buyers will be expecting these to be both finished and polished. It could lead to much negative publicity if they\'re not satisfied.
I love KSP but I think at the moment it\'s a bit premature to charge too much.
wat.
You\'d be hard-pressed to find a commercial company charge even 25USD for a pre-order, and that\'s just to preserve your copy until its release date, in which you won\'t know if the game is any good until that game is released.
18USD to pre-order KSP, get access to the game in its current state, and all other updates it recieves until it\'s complete? That\'s nothing.
Go press ctrl+alt+shift+d

And all the other games with commands for debug controls?
