  1. This is really cool! I have a couple of ideas to contribute: Radial parts and no struts on them. Notice. In VAB; TWR < 1. Warning. Using BD Armory: part has weapons but no weapon manager. Notice. Using BD Armory: part has weapon manager but no flares. Notice. Using BD Armory: part has autopilot but no weapon manager. Notice.
  2. I love this mod; my KSP aeronautics builds aren't complete without it. However, it can be a little frustrating that many parts are too big for Mk 1 since it's what many of the realistic mod cockpits are designed for. Are you planning on adding TweakScale support at some point? As an example: two AMRAAM-size missiles fit comfortably in tandem on a real F-15: but in KSP, on an F-15 sized to Quiztech's Eagle cockpit, just one fits in the same space.
  3. In 1.0 I get a really weird bug using VV; the module is upside down. It also flashes, doesn't display vessel, and is unresponsive. Other modules work fine.
  4. Kerbs, Allow me to present the Strike Eagle: The finest in rocket-sabotaging hardware, the Strike Eagle was most definitely made by the lowest bidder, in fine Kerbal tradition. Stocked with 4 AMRAAMs, 4 Sidewinders, and 250 rounds of ammo, this dogfighter will see you through the best explosions anyone's ever tried to introduce your EVA suit to. Download it here at http://kerbalx.com/MooseCannon/F-15E-Strike-Eagle
  5. There was a point in time where you modeled a short-nosed Mk1 cockpit and a long-nosed version (which you just added, and it looks awesome!). I was just asking if it was possible to also get the short-nosed version if it's not too much work. Yeah if Quiznos picked up the Oblong form-factor from Firespitter, I would be the happiest of campers.
  6. This mod is gorgeous. If at some point down the line you made an inline version of the Mk1 cockpit, I would consider you a hero among Kerbals. Also, if it's not too much work, I would like both the nosed Mk1 cockpits! I can see different, real-world planes that they resemble.
  7. @katateochi I've noticed that Part Mapper doesn't recognize the B-9 Procedural Wing pack: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/104966-0-90-B9-Aerospace-Procedural-Parts-0-33-Updated-07-02-15 As separate from the B-9 Mod as a whole. This could be confusing to lots of people! Anything we can do about it? Moose
  8. Bringing the BRRRRT and freedom like only BD Armory can: The A-10 Warthog Download it now at KerbalX!
  9. Of my craft, ones with moving parts tend to get downloaded more. Obviously, I have a tiny data set so it might be meaningless. I mean, my next plane is an A-10 that works in FAR so take it all for what it's worth. Have a few site-wide stats, like global downloads over time, mods vs. stock, and VAB vs SPH. Those are all fun. Also think about which stats might inform how people upload. Are tags important? Descriptions? Are pictures helpful? How many is optimal? If you're not sure whether a question is good, think about whether its answer could change user behavior (should I tag?) or whether users will be generally interested in it (SPH > VAB ). If you don't have enough questions, go through the list of things users do and ask what the best way to do them is. Yes please. A little. Whatever the right thing is for the website's design, do it. It'll be even harder to change it in the future.
  10. You're a scholar and a gentlekerb. And, as I suspected, this new feature revealed an interested trend among my craft! Their downloads are highly correlated with the mechanical complexity of the vessel. My guess is that this means that balancing planes for articulation (swinging wings and VTOL) is hard, and everyone knows it.
  11. If you were to make fighter plane style cockpits and nose cones in the Mk1 and Oblong (Firespitter) form factors, I would be exceptionally grateful. Mocking those parts up is a huge time sink when you're making realistic planes!
  12. I have two small requests: First, could we get a Downloads per View Stat? Yes I know that it's simple both for us to do in our heads and for you to add, but it's the number I care most about. Second, I believe you're now past 900 craft, which sounds cooler than 800. Update dat original post through?
  13. Introducing the V-23 King Fisher! Like a V-22, but without pesky details like being able to take off down a runway, the finest in paramilitary transport. http://kerbalx.com/MooseCannon/V-23%20King%20Fisher
  14. People have been asking for downloads, so here's where you can find them! http://kerbalx.com/MooseCannon/craft Unfortunately, the Falcon (and possibly B-9 Proecdural) mods are uncommon enough that KerbalX doesn't recognize them. And I can't run PartMapper until I install WINE because Macs. So it'll be a little while.
  15. I hadn't heard about it, but it sounds really cool! 0.90 made it too easy to make awesome planes, I wouldn't know what to do without the challenge.
  16. Men, Women, and Kerbals, I've been making replica planes for a while in KSP. I was told you're interested in those sorts of things! For your convenience, I'll mention the mods I made these with and which aerodynamics they work under. If you see weapons they're from Bahamut's BDArmory mod. Also, I use B-9 Procedural Wings as opposed to normal Procedural Wings because I couldn't figure out how the latter works. Looking back, I used the B-9 engines a lot where it might have been easier to use TweakScale and stock engines. Hindsight is 20/20, after all. EDIT: Craft now available at KerbalX! A-4 Kicking it old school with a Vietnam era US carrier-capable attack plane, the A-4! Notable for being able to lift nearly its own takeoff weight in munitions and lasting nearly 50 years in service. Mods: B-9 (engine, airframe spine made from engine mount) and Firespitter (airframe, wing tips). Designed for stock aerodynamics. A-10 Bringing the Freedom, fear of God, and the almighty BRRRRRT, the A-10 Warthog! Notable for being able to cut tanks in half with its gatling gun, and eating AA missiles to the face without a care in the world. Mods: Firespitter (airframe) and B-9 (engines, tail). Designed for stock aerodynamics. Eurofighter Typhoon A modern fighter plane, made by many of the leading nations in Europe. As a result, it's completely unexportable because they'd all have to agree on something. Mods: lots of B-9. Designed for stock aerodynamics. F-14 Tomcat A legendary figure in the fighter community, despite only splashing four bandits while flying American colors, the Tomcat was the supreme carrier-launched fighter for years. I actually have two versions of this plane: stock and FAR/IR. Stock Aerodynamics My first pass at this amazing plane. Aesthetically pretty nice, but I made a few mistakes on the bottom of the airframe and the wings didn't actuate. Mods used: B-9 for nose, intakes, and air brakes; Firespitter for the engines. FAR and IR This version has actuating swing wings. FAR actually models how that changes the aerodynamics! Mods used: Infernal Robotics for rotating wings; B-9 Procedural Wings; B-9 air intakes and nose; Tweakscale; Firespitter engines; and those grey blisters on the bottom are from Mysterious Falcon mod; see the F-16. Funny aside: if your craft breaks up, and your new root part started tweaked, it will revert to its original size. F-15 Eagle The undisputed king of the 4th generation of fighters with a 104-0 record, the Eagle (along with the Tomcat) was derived from the lessons learned in the F-4: while you gotta go fast, you also gotta turn fast. This version uses the mods B-9 and Firespitter, in much the same capacities as the other planes. F-16 Fighting Falcon The most efficient modern fighter in the NATO arsenal, the F-16 is one of the most iconic planes of all time, and does just about everything. I've made three different version of it: the first two use B-9 and Firespitter, while the latter is the Falcon Mod, better showcased by Nazari. But I will too. So there. The homebrew variants are designed for stock aerodynamics, while the Mysterious variant works in both. F/A-18E/F Super Hornet Like the USAF with the F-16, the USN realized that having the best plane in the world was expensive, so they made the F/A-18. Then they retired the F-14, so they decided that they wanted the best plane again. Uses B-9 and Firespitter like usual, and the wings are B-9 Procedural Wings, allowing for the nice tooth where in the real plane you'd have the folding wings. Design for FAR SR-71 Blackbird The fastest air-breathing plane to date, the Blackbird was American surveillance before we had satellites. [1] It's famous for basically being a spaceship, and for being too fast for planes to intercept and radars to hold a lock. [2] On the rare occasion that it was successfully shot at, it simply outran the missiles. This version uses B-9 and B-9 Procedural Wings, and is designed for FAR. [1] Also the U2 and a few others, but they're not nearly as ..... [2] Except by Swedish Viggens somehow. Dassault Mirage The hugely popular French fighter family, the Mirage is a very iconic Cold War fighter plane. This version is most closely based on the Mirage 5. Mods are B-9 and Firespitter as usual, and the planes are designed for stock aerodynamics. F-35 Lightning II The most controversial, high-tech, high-cost fighter of the 21st century. Less the stealthy supersonic VTOL jack-of-all-trades we were promised, it's more like the seven-of-all-trades: sort stealthy, sorta fast, sorta agile. The F-35 is the plane we all wanted to be good. If only it had two engines then maybe it could climb well. This uses the B-9 and B-9 Procedural Wing mods, as well as Infernal Robotics to make the engine rotate down. The cockpit is the B-9 Mk2 Lightning Cockpit by BD. This plane is designed for FAR, but like the real thing the design expectations and product don't strictly agree. AV-8B Harrier The first VTOL to make it into common use, the Harrier is as iconic of British air power as any plane. One of the very few planes imported to America, the subsonic VTOL joins the F-22 as the conceptual parents of the F-35. This plane uses B-9, B-9 Procedural Wings, Firespitter, Infernal Robotics motors and KAX VTOL engines to be able to switch from vertical to forward flight and back. 'Teen Series' Group Shots F-14, F-15, F-16, and F-18 from my 0.24 stock build. They're probably bffs or something. Those are all the planes accessible in my current KSP builds. I have a few other planes (offhand I can think of the A-6, Mig 21, Mig 27, Mig 29, and F-111) that I have in older, archived builds. If you all seem interested I'll go back and document them, too.
  17. Feature suggestion: a button that saves a ship directly to a .stl file. 3D print all the rockets!
  18. I've been making a series of realistic planes, and to do that I need an oblong form factor. They're much more fun to fly with the sort of glass cockpit you get with RPM, but the only oblong parts I can find are part of the Firespitter mod, and they are definitely of an older school. I'm try to figure out how to either: a) find other oblong cockpits that do currently support RPM, or, go edit the Firespitter cockpit to have the glass internals. Any thoughts on how to proceed? Moose
  19. Gotcha. It seemed oddly specific; I was expecting some http failure code or something.
  20. When I click on the Mac 0.25 game install, I get the following error message: Is that just because we're all trying to hit the server at the same time?
  21. In response to this thread: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/68369-Harnessing-the-Kraken-Eeloo-in-11-hours%21/ In particular, on page 16, we got this beauty, courtesy of _Aramchek_: http://imgur.com/Oq3vNNq I felt that we needed iconography for our new, glorious technocratic overlords. http://imgur.com/a/DCNTY/embed Contains one flag, one base image of the kraken drive, and one meme-y image for Jeb's sake in motivating the other Kerbals to accompany him on his zany adventures.
  22. Kerbs, I'm running my game off of a laptop, and B9 is not a happy camper when I try and use all its prettiest textures. I want to switch to most or all of the low-res textures provided. However, on my Mac I can't find a "manually resolve a folder merge" option, meaning I'd have to hand-copy it all over. Is there a better way? Cheers, Moose EDIT: problem resolved with the bash command line: cp -R reduced_textures/GameData/B9_aerospace/parts/* GameData/B9_aerospace
  23. Ladies, Gents, and Kerbals; Does KSP generate a 3D model when you build and fly the rocket, or does it just hit the part files a lot? If it generates a 3D model, what format is it in and is it possible to access from an external program? Cheers, Moose Cannon
