1. The level of "discussion" has kind of degraded to near uselessness. Almost all of the last 5 pages of "discussion", I believe, are a result of the lightweight nature of the dev notes. There's almost no actual development detail in there, but I understand they just got back from vacation, so maybe we should give them a week. That said, in a week, what would really help is if it was actually listed what they intend to do with each release and why they intend to do it that way. You know, actual dev notes type of stuff. Things like, we can't fix X for 1.1.3 because it requires a Unity update, so X will have to wait for 1.2, but here's a fix for Y that we don't want to wait on. But you guys, you just pick a part of the whole that you don't like and just run with it, don't you? Did you not notice nor understand the part: "We’re currently making an inventory of the most promising discussions from the community and seeing what we can bring to the game. " That sounds like an opening to me, an opening for the community to communicate what is most important to them. Now, assuming this is true, do you guys think that maybe CONSTRUCTIVE criticism might be a better approach to getting Squad to hear how important your issue is to you? --pest
2. Maybe for a visual a flashing red border around the screen. You've seen it in a million games, nothing too flashy, but like 10-20 pixels wide with increasing opacity towards the center of the screen. Anything graphical is definitely not an area within my expertise, though, so maybe that's impossible within KSP. --pest
3.
... Nobody is going to complain about bugfixes optimizations; ...
You must read a different forum than I do. --pest
4. I heartily second the "early aviation" DLC. I'd put down some cash towards it too! I've been playing KSP long enough that I pretty much have ignored planes due to the pre-modern unrealistic flight issues and my having a rig that can't run with a lot of mods to fix it. I keep meaning to start playing with planes more now, but find I keep just waiting for 1.1 before jumping back in. Even with 1.05 sounding cool, I'm pretty much gonna wait for the performance rev before I commit much time. Starting over in the early days of aviation would be perfect for getting into planes. I also heartily second the mission planning addition. I pretty much still just pack too much delta-v into every rocket and make up for inefficiencies with tons of extra fuel. I definitely do not plan out things like a "Grand Tour" with the tools currently available in stock, it's mostly "go to the first planet, do stuff, set kerbal alarm clock for next planet's window, go do other stuff" even if that next window is years away. --pest
5. I don't disagree. I guess it's just a matter of where your line is. Personally, I thought the barns were fine, but when confronted with the flavor text "found by the side of the road" or "in a junkyard" I never really built those in to the narrative running in my head. For me, building a rocket in a barn is plausible, but finding a rusty boiler in a junkyard that happens to be properly balanced, sized, and space-capable is a bit much. But I also just ignore those things assuming it's someone else's tastes. I could give up on the barns IF there was something else interesting to do with the buildings. When they first announced they would follow a progression, I was hoping for a lot more "things to do" with them, not just save money to unlock a feature, repeat. Gimme a more fun KSC and I'll love you forever. How about things to actually discover with the telescope, stuff like that? I will say though, that I've played with Orbiter. It didn't stick. Part of what kept me coming back to KSP was the humor and the cutesy little screaming guy in the capsule. And like Randall, I can't believe just how much orbital mechanics I've actually learned from this game. Just try and watch "Gravity" after KSP. When she aims straight for the Chinese station and accelerates... how many of you called B.S. because that's not how you actually intercept a different orbit? --pest
6. But I don't want all my games, movies, books, etc. to all be self-similar. Your sig aside, if we start constraining everything to adhere to reality we'll get every rocket game to look like every other rocket game, every viking movie to look like every other viking movie, and every romance novel to be like every other romance novel (which may have actually already happened). I much prefer the occasional Terry Gilliams of the world who give me romantic space-faring vikings coming out of barns, but I do admit I might be in the minority. Though I also claim I am supremely happy with this minority so far. Edit: I've now posted waaay more about this then my actual level of caring about the barns would suggest. We're of different opinions, I leave it at that. --pest When did silly become a synonym for don't do it?
7. It isn't "Human Space Program". If you don't like the barn, you don't like the barn. Fine. But I thought it was cute, didn't really hurt anything, and did, in actuality, fit the theme of duck-taping together the first rockets. I mean, they are literally finding parts by the side of the road and in junkyards according to the flavor texts. Also, the start of the progression for the buildings as it stands now is kind of just boring; the barns and trailers were more interesting. But if you need "realism" in this area, so be it. I hate to push everything to mods, but maybe different building progressions can be addressed there. --pest
8. Kerbals are a "silly idea". I liked the barn. Yeah it's a little goofy, but c'mon, it felt like the 1910's and 20's of real-world aviation progress. The Wright Brothers worked out of their bicycle shop. I'll join the Barncoats, but only if I get to keep Vera and Saffron. --pest
9. Jalando in this context probably means working. I though it was dirtier than that so I didn't mention it last post, but I found that in the southern U.S. at least, it also can mean working. So "continue working with gusto" would be the gist, but instead of gusto, insert that euphemism I mentioned above. I didn't mention "jalando" before because, well, you can imagine what other connotations "pulling" might have in slang. The double meaning, I'm guessing here, is likely part of what made them laugh. --pest EDIT: Have I completely killed the humor in it yet?
10. Huevos means eggs but is also slang for testicles. But not in that sterile, scientific meaning that testicles conveys, I'm just not sure how much I can say without getting the post banned. Rhymes with "walls"? Anyway, substitute your favorite slang for male "eggs" in there and it makes more sense. EDIT: Oh, and "con" is "with" which Google translate seems to have dropped. --pest
11. If you can't find a joystick that scales down, I'd think wings would be a good alternative. The wing pins they wear on their uniforms. Type "pilot wings pin" into google images to get a bajillion examples. --pest
12. This used to drive me so crazy. I still hate it for other planets and moons, but now one of the first things I do is walk outside to the flagpole and plant a flag so I can see KSC from space at night. Well, I used too. Some mod that added city lights made this not so important. This isn't so straightforward. I don't know how many times I've hit the damn engines and screwed up an orbit when all I wanted to do was tab to a new planet view. I don't have a good answer for this, but it's bricked a few missions when I was right on the line between having enough fuel/RCS or not.
13. Hah! I'm glad I'm not the only one that chased that link down the million-clicks-later rabbit hole. It's almost as bad as the "Recommended For Your Pleasure" section after any Cracked.com article. --pest

15. Alt-F12 Physics Thermal "Display Thermal Data in Action Menus" That adds the temps and heat flow stuff to the right-click pop-up on parts. - - - Updated - - - ...oh and: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/116993-Helpful-1-0-observations Torham234 did some tests on what parts radiate heat the best. Wings are far better than solar panels, so ignore Squad on that piece of "advice". --pest
16. jonrd, my point exactly. I'd bet there's 1000's of players like us, but who never post at all.
17. Hey sarbian, you seem a little edgy these days so I thought I'd write this. I'm the type of guy who posts in the forums maybe once every 6 months, which is to say, almost never, but I've been playing KSP for years. I tell you this at the outset because I feel like you're getting a misrepresentation of the community's feeling towards Mechjeb by reading the forums. And even the forums are much more positive than not when it comes to the work you've done. I tell you this, again, so you realize there's a BUNCH more players like me than you think, you just don't hear from them. And I feel pretty confident that most of them would agree with the following. Mechjeb is one of the best, most useful, and most liked mods there is. I'm sure there's a large "stock-only" group out there, but they won't have an opinion regarding Mechjeb, anyway. I did a quick search on Google for "ksp best mods". Here's a representative sample: http://www.curse.com/ksp-mods/kerbal/downloads http://www.pcgamer.com/the-best-kerbal-space-program-mods/ http://www.pcgamesn.com/indie/five-kerbal-space-program-mods-will-improve-your-life-forever http://www.themittani.com/news/kerbal-space-program-top-mod-picks http://www.reddit.com/r/KerbalSpaceProgram/comments/255cjn/essential_and_nonessentialbutstillcool_mods Guess what mod makes every one of those lists. It's gotten to the point where I just download it with every new KSP version. I personally like a challenge, but dislike needless repetition. I usually do a few unassisted landings, a few unassisted rendezvous/dockings , etc. every version just to keep my mad skillz up, but then I go full force Mechjeb. Who wants to spend 15 minutes docking after the first few manual successes when building a station, especially after it gets big enough to start tanking the FPS? So I just wanted to say, thank you very much for your work on Mechjeb. You have only increased my enjoyment of KSP which was already one of my favorite games of all time. You have done so for literally thousands of players. Take it easy, brother. --pest
18. My vote is they finally added a ringed planet. I've been waiting many a release for that one.
19. I've noticed quite a few of us miss the barn/trailer park levels we got as a preview before. Honestly, I liked the idea too. I took all the negative reaction on the forums to those levels to just be "more-of-the-same" complaining that the loudmouths do anytime anything changes that is outside their expectations. I ignored it, just like I ignore most of the complaints people have before they actually have the release in their hands, since, not having it actually in their hands, they by definition don't really know what they're talking about. I'm saddened to see that for once Squad took the complaints to heart and nixed some levels that I thought might be interesting. I guess the lesson is that we shouldn't ignore all the complainers of each release and voice our positive support to new ideas to balance them out, but boy is that tiring. I'd rather, Squad, that you just trusted your instincts. They've made a fantastic game so far. I want you to know that for every vocal person on here complaining about something, there are a thousand of us who are pleased with KSP. It's just that being pleased doesn't inspire one to fight vocally on the forums against the anonymous, vocal minority. Anyway, I'm glad we'll see the barns and trailer parks again in some revamped form at a later date. Squad, keep up the good work, please realize that there are 1000's of me for every one of the complainers and don't take the negativity to heart. For fun: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_H._Goddard#mediaviewer/File:Dr._Goddard_Transports_Rocket_-_GPN-2000-001693.jpg The real life history of rockets had a few trailers and barns in it as well, if you need any ammo to shoot back with. --pest
20. Reading through this thread I've seen a number of calls for some cows to be added.... If cows are added, I'm going to grab one with the claw, and I'm going to launch that cow into space. I don't know how hardy Kerbin cows are, but if they can tolerate a hard vaccum, I'm going to grab enough of them to place around my Mun base. --pest
21. I personally put my refuelling station at 610k so I can utilize the full 100,000X warp, but I also don't use SSTOs which would make that impossible. Getting to 610k, the heavy lifter is obviously gone, and if my payload is heavy enough, the first stage of my asparagus'd high-efficiency deep space tug is often spent, but so what? I don't eject that stage, I just pull the dead weight to the station and there refuel them all. Then I have a LOT of delta-v available from pretty high up out of Kerbin's well already, plus the fastest warp available.
22. "Whose metal cone is this?" "It's a Mk1 Command Pod, baby." "Whose Mk1 Command Pod is this?" "It's Jeb's." "Who's Jeb?" "Jeb's dead, baby. Jeb's dead."
