  1. Who? Some use wing panels in place of structural panels to make their ships lighter but sacrifice armour strength in the process. It could be a general question, but he is probably referring to me: All of my ships excepting my flagship are constructed from structural intakes and wing panels, making them extremely light yet preserving much of their durability (for example: My corvette, which carries 1200 units of liquid fuel, 18 I-Beams, and a guided torpedo, masses in at only 32 tons, yet is quite durable). You had probably best wait for ejudedude13, so as to not interrupt his set-up again. Well, that is good; I hope you do not mind that we have filled your spot. That, on the other hand, is considerably less good; hurricanes/typhoons are not fun... Also, does anyone mind if I replace my current flagship with an updated version? Somehow I completely forgot to armor its engines, which would basically result in its instant death if it were attacked in its current state.
  2. Ike is fine--it is in Duna SOI, is it not?

    Riddles

Alas--the first two stanzas fit, but the last two do not...I must think on this further!

    Riddles

    My guess would be stars.
  5. I suppose it would be, if one did not mind the time between turns...But seeing as no-one else has even set-up their ships yet, I predict this would mean waiting for even longer to start.
  6. Forum updating time, curse you! (Weird double-post removed)
  7. Six players would take forever, unless you really wanted to...
  8. With sdj64 and ScriptKitt3n having filled [presumably] vacant spots, we are already at four players; as five people would be getting rather excessive and pose similar problems as having 3, I am afraid you are unneeded. - - - Updated - - - EDIT: Ninja'd AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Too many people! Go fight your own battles
  9. I would gladly welcome another person, as 1v1v1v1 would be far less conducive to someone getting accidentally "double-teamed" than 1v1v1...Still, I do not know about everyone else.
  10. It is odd that 0.25 is not working for you...As for me, I cannot really battle in 0.24, since most of my ships are made entirely out of 0.25 (SP+) parts, and it would be time-consuming to have to redesign my the vast majority of my fleet. That is rather unfortunate Yet another participant lost, alas... If Tynton and Zamovinar cannot participate, I would be alright with you joining; I do not know how everyone else feels, however. You are correct that the fleet size is rather large, but it simply means that the battle will be considerably more awesome at the expense of taking longer, and, at least in my opinion, a massive battle is distinctly preferable.
  11. I know that it is not a problem with the download, as I just tested the file; it must thus be a problem on your end. It might be that 0.25 did not install correctly, or that the persistence file is not in the correct location...Where and how are you putting the persistence file into your save?
  12. I think everyone should place their ships first, then take Turn One one it passes back to them (i.e, setup is "Turn Zero"). I do not know about everyone else, but I am playing on 0.25...I do not know if this will affect anything. Also, only one ship? That would place you at some disadvantage, but I suppose your ship is large enough as is.
  13. Those look rather good, I must say. Especially so the destroyer and cruiser... Also, hooray for more people! Anyway, back to the battle at hand: I have deployed my ships and set up a persist file (link below). After the unconditional surrender of enemy forces in the previous battle, the C3V Bohr was left in sentry orbit high above Vall guarding the Joolian system, while the C3V Kirchhoff was decommissioned due to a number of design flaws that became apparent during combat. The remaining forces, joined by the C3V Euclid's sister ship the Archimedes, have been repaired, re-armed, and re-deployed to Duna under the command of the newly-built flagship the C3V Zytkow. The fleet lineup is as follows: The C3V Zytkow, a TZO Class Heavy Cruiser and Flagship Designate of the Dunan Defense Fleet: 984 parts at 175.06 tons. The C3V Euclid and the C3V Archimedes, both Vertex Class Corvettes: 444 parts and 36.64 tons each. The C3V Rutherford, a Hadron Class Bomber: 401 parts at 27.12 tons. And finally, the C3V Fermi, a Lepton Class Fighter: 328 parts at 15.36 tons. Fleet total: 5 ships at 290.82 tons. Initial Orbits: Persist
  14. I would be fine with that. It might take awhile, but it should make for some epic battles and/or Zamovinar's ships frying my computer. Excellent! Fleet, move out!
  15. Same here, so not a problem. Hooray for spectators! As a side note, I think that, by tonnage, our ships will be significantly more powerful than others, given that we seem to be building with primarily wing panels rather than structural plates. In my last (and only previous) battle, I was able to significantly outgun my opponent as a result of this, but I hope we shall be more evenly matched here.
  16. Can't wait to blast it with a railgun... When do you think you shall be ready?
  17. This is how mine works as well; it is nice, however, that Structural Pylons are their own decouplers, and so do not need additional parts to be used as armament. That is exactly why I am using them: As ablative armor to dissipate incident armaments' kinetic energy before they hit the inner layer, which is made, not of wing panels, but the actual extremely-massive-80 m/s-impact-tolerance structural panels that most everyone else uses for their external structure. I have been testing the ship against weapons-fire, and so far it has been absorbing girder-tipped, 1.6-ton SRB missiles moving at 150 m/s without any internal damage (not a single shot of the 15 or so I have fired at it has done anything to the vitals of the ship, and only one actually penetrated the secondary plate layer).
  18. The railgun is my own design, inspired by one I had seen earlier (I cannot remember where, either). It does look simple from the outside, but doubt not its armor: In some areas there is a second layer of wing-panels under the first, and in the the rear two-thirds there is another layer of heavy plate beneath that. Two to three-layer armor, check!
  19. I am already entered for battle with ejudedude... Also, at 990 parts, it is hardly a "simple" ship ! She is the C3V Zytkow, a TZO Class Heavy Cruiser. Also, she has something like twenty tons of armament, including a Structural Pylon-fed, Mainsail-powered railgun.
  20. In other news, meet my new flagship: You will be seeing this shortly, ejudedude...Fear her!
  21. You do not have to fly your vessels to the location; just get Hyperedit and cheat them into orbit there...[shudders involuntarily] Having to actually send the ships there would be terrible.
  22. What do you mean by that? sorry new here I believe he means that he is slightly terrified of the amount of armament that ship has--I believe it is a compliment. Honestly I like these rules better. I am still in the process of redesigning my capital ships, and, as they are all very light tonnage-wise anyway, I probably will not come close to exceeding the limit, but whatever. Off to prepare vessels!
  23. Without a tonnage limit, there is nothing stopping us from (and indeed it is more advantageous if we start) spamming massive warships...This also means that whichever one of us does not use ten of the former will be at a distinct disadvantage, limiting variety of deployment. Likewise, 10v10 combat shall take a very, very long time. If this is what you want, then very well; I accept. But this shall be a very strange battle, I should think.
  24. @ejudedude13: I have fighters and bombers that I would be willing to battle, though not a carrier as of yet. If you accept, simply define battle parameters (maximum number of ships, tonnage, theater of combat, etc.) and one of us can set up.
  25. Thanks; that was rather what I was intending. I had grown rather tired of the more common rod-shaped vessels, and attempted to design something different. I am interested to see how yours turned out: Flying saucers would be fun to use, if merely for entertainment if not for combat. If you continue with your "bigger is better" trend for much longer, Zekes, you shall soon be forced to recruit Whackjob to design your vessels.
