  1. Scarecrow... I like it... This may undergo a major change... I have to build the craft before I will submit the challenge, so it may be a bit.
  2. Alrighty people, here's the plan. Who can get the fastest possible speed with their wheels still touching the ground. Gotta be on Kerbal, I don't really care where... Must post screenshot with speed. Please list your mods that you use. I will keep track of the first 10 placings. Here's mine: I used KW rocketry and B9 Aerospace. Its just rocket and alot of fuel.
  3. alright guys. I had the engine compartment done when it crashed. I tried to work on it, but repetition for me is irratating and I didn't want to do it again today. I tried to recreate the XB-70 and managed to create a craft that spins out of control at 1200 m/s and snaps into about 5 pieces when it does that... I was irritated at KSP and took a break. So, as we speak, I have a single large piece added to the Serenity and it is not worth discussing at the moment. I will get more done at a later date. On the welder. It keeps rearranging the parts. It makes me mad. I quit using it.
  4. http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/arudem-rocketry/ After about 10 seconds of searching, I found a mod with a "short pulse-massive lift device" Sounds pretty close to it. We will give her a shot.
  5. Hmmm.... lets see how i can get THAT to work. Thanks for the info, I've been trying to figure this out. I may just get a massively powerful engine (Modded) and just provide thrust with bursts. Welll... I had the frame of engine compartment and enough thermoelectric generators to create roughly 2000 electric/min then ksp crashed and I lost the engine compartment.
  6. I'm going to use the Sabre M engine from the KW rocketry mod. I am working on how to get the sabre M to work in both atmo and non atmo. Update on me: Redbull supplies... gone. Food.... a few oreos left. I currently have 3 computers with 4 screens working (Building serenity, Watching Firefly, Forum and general life stuff) Serenity should be semi flyable by tonight
  7. I may change the way the cargo hold is set up... I need to figure it out some.
  8. I've completed the nose, neck and cargo hold. I need to build the "engine compartment" and the wings and whatnot. I need to run some simulations to see if the rotation can handle the kind of force I will put on it... I am planning on using the KW rocketry's dual engine (The rocket and jet combonation). I want to be able to use those in and out of atmo. I need a mod for a warp drive for the rear of the craft, I guess I need to look for it. She will be able to haul cargo when I am done. She looks a little rough, but she is gonna fly really well. I am worried that the cargo bay is just barely gallywopped with the neck section. I guess at this point you want me to shut up and provide pictures...
  9. Yall are getting a Globerunner variant... let me get a little bit to stop working on my current project.
  10. Update: The liberal application of redbull and firefly is helping the process along. I erased what I had before and started over. Let me know what you think. I'm going to get to the body and get the front door frame in place and I'll jump over to a minor project to get my mind off of it temporarily.
  11. I have taken a nap, gotten some redbull and got a full belly of pizza... Its time to get serenity worked on. I'm not banning anyone from saying like a leaf. on. the. wind. but... when you say it you only remind me of the last time he says it :'(
  12. What about a warp drive for the rear drive? Does anybody know how to do that?
  13. Alrighty boys (and girls too if you are out there), Here's what I got. I'm using a B9 aerospace cockpit, and it looks too narrow... what do yall think?
  14. Update: I'm being a bit of a perfectionist (which is rare for me) so its taking a while. I'm starting at the cockpit (I always thought of the serenity as a swan in its shape, so if i relapse into using neck, head and the sort, please bear with me). I am relying heavily on B9 aerospace parts, and I think I have figured out how I am going to get the VTOL engines to work. I'll post a screenshot of Serenity daily or maybe even bi daily if I make enough progress. I'll be running seperate tests to work on my knowledge of how to get the VTOL to work. Also, for future reference, If you can find a lego version of it it helps bunches!!
  15. I got most all the mods mentioned here. They are pretty awesome. I am confident I can get this done, Going to go to take care of some chores and get some food then I shall begin on serenity
  16. Another build that will come after Serenity is the Pelican from the Halo series. If I can get better at orbiters, then I will give building the pilar of autumn a shot as well... but Serenity first
  17. The Albatross 3 Replacement- The Globerunner 1 Ladies and Gents... Sit down, Strap in, and shut up because I'm about to show you the replacement for our beloved quirky duck. I don't know about you but I heard long range, easy to fly and in atmo were the main qualifications for this plane. Now, I don't know about you, but when I hear about these hippy productions like the Swiss Solar Impulse I just shake my head. Yeah... They are great if you have nothing to do, to just piddle around the world. Probably growing 3-5 ft of beard in the process... These are the prius of the airplane world. They are slow, boring, and just lack in the primal part of flying something. Now, let me bring you to what I built. This thing isn't exactly a "Fuel Efficent" aircraft, but it is durable, a pleasure to fly and capable of strapping science to it and sciencifying. Now, when you get bored sciencing and flying this pleasure around, discovering the islands and the area around the KSC, you can jam the throttles to their stops, and get the wondrous feeling of speed. Now, what can a newbie learn from this wondrous piece of aeronautics that is the result of El Gato Bandito's Southern Engineers? First that simplicity is great. Second... There is no problem with bracing everything. Third, this plane can be tore apart by my dog and put back together easily. Fourth and finally, This plane is versatile! I can slap a few extra air intakes, and climb to ridiculous altitudes, or I can modify this plane to be an even heavier carrier, and then I can modify it to orbit if I want to. But the key to all of this is that we hand them a basic plane, and they can do what they want with it! Now, without any further adieu... I introduce you to the Globerunner 1 Now, I will say... If you attempt to just flat burn through your fuel to get around the world... you won't make it, but if you throttle down, and play it smart... a global hop should not be out of the question. If you want mamby pamby t-sippin hippy planes... then the Globerunner is not for you... But if you want a durable, versatile, powerhouse of a plane that has a massive set of brass balls.... oh? I'm not supposed to say that word? Oh, ok... Anyhoo... The Globerunner is your plane. (Note: If you would like pics of the Globerunner in action carrying science stuff just ask I'll get them for you) If you want pictures of all the different variants and how I did them... let me know. I'll get those up too if that is what it takes to prove the Globerunner. http://www./download/ykmuzi93hshqqgo/Link_to_Globerunner_1.craft
  18. Sounds great! Thanks Guys! I need to get some basic learning done on these mods (a few "practice" builds to get learning done) and I will definitely jump on this... I got to think about this while I was riding my bike in the rain. I want to do the cargo bay (I think I want to put a rover in it) but the rest I may turn into fuel storage... I don''t know, we shall see how I get 'er done.
  19. If you would move it please, That would be great. Thanks again vexx
  20. I guess that sounded needier than I wanted it to... I am trying to learn about the mods so that I can build a Serenity mockup. I don't want the product handed to me, but rather some suggestions that would make it possible to do what I want...
  21. I am trying to build Serenity from Firefly. I want to build it picture perfect, with mods included... Where would yall begin with the mods, and what is reasonable to expect from the mods? I really want to make it where I can fly around the Solar system however I want and make it my sort of universal explorer. But most of all I want the VTOL capablility and atmo flight...
  22. Coming soon: B52 bomber, A douglass A-3 Skywarrior and a special ed hovercraft.
  23. Does a mod have to check it if I make modifications to the original post? I was trying to change the imgur code (I had something really not right, I don't know what it was) and my post went poof...
  24. Here is the Kerbal space program version of the Vulcan Strategic Bomber. It is a large aircraft and a very sweet flyer. Empty (no extra payload at all) it can lift off the runway at about 80m/s loaded... well it gets on up there. I created a "Show" Version that is closer to the original than the "work" version. The "Work" version has a bunch of supports and increased engine and air intake for higher flying. The "Show" Vulcan taking off from KSC. The "Work" Vulcan coming in for a bombing run on the KSC And finally, my best reenactment of Thunderball (Sean Connery James bond) Bombs Away!! I have created bombs from structural fuseloges, and have created cruise missiles as basic rockets. Seeing as you can't switch in atmo, cruisies are no good unless you go to space, drop them, switch them, then hit target, return to the vulcan, and repeat. I am currently testing how much weight I can get onto the wings before I cannot get it off of the KSC runway.
