  1. I don't remember exactly how long it took for the first time, but I recall it took about two days of constant playing or so before I could *efficiently* get something in a decent orbit and then land it on the moon. A lot of the challenge was designing a spacecraft that could do it. XD
  2. My favorite thing to do is build gargantuan ships and probes that leave the Kerbol system forever.
  3. Ok, maybe I was a bit off, I found a design that had 3 Saturn V's as boosters: http://ntrs.nasa.gov/archive/nasa/casi.ntrs.nasa.gov/20000096503_2000138021.pdf (See pg. 6, 2nd paragraph on the right). Even after all that, it would still have required some in-orbit assembly! XD I'm going to say that again, purely for emphasis by the way: The three Saturn V's... were boosters...
  4. Jeb is definitely my favorite (but you probably knew that!) However I do like the Kerbals that have the rather odd names every so often. I'm a big fan of Insane Rockets Division (the youtube show) and for some reason "Lemmy Kerman" is kind of endearing.
  5. That is an incredibly awesome find. Cherish it forever! (Perhaps you should get it restored somehow?)
  6. The biggest problem in my mind is what to do with the waste. There's a ton of it basically sitting out in the open with nowhere to put it in locations all over the world (look it up!) Projects have been developed to dispose of it (more like hide it underground and hope nothing bad happens), but the only country that's really made any progress is Finland with "Onkalo."
  7. My understanding is that "100%" is a standard established full thrust. If they set it to full throttle, it probably goes a bit past that.
  8. This. I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to implement all the fantastic ideas they've got flying around in their heads! They're doing great so far and I suspect that everyone is pushing to get career mode up and running. In my view, the skeleton of the game itself is very much taking shape still, perhaps we'll get updates more often when the devs can focus more on adding content and such rather than recoding the entire game.
  9. As long as it's well-integrated into the gameplay system, I think it would be a great addition! A good way to add science points without necessarily launching a rocket, and it could help with planning missions. It could also be useful if you want to gain some science with a lot less financial risk of course! Maybe when money is implemented, you could pay for research time on the telescope just like real researchers have to do. And while we're talking about telescopes, what about an orbital telescope that could see even farther?
  10. LOL I died when I saw all the orbital debris paths. XD
  11. Hmm, I'm really not sure what I think of MarsOne. Interesting? Sure. Serious? Probably not. But who knows? These days, crowdsourcing seems to be accomplishing all sorts of interesting things... I like to think I'd take a shot at going to Mars if offered the option, but I wouldn't want to go until they'd already established a Martain Vegas.
  12. As long as iTiamo is on this list and adds an insane amount of decouplers, I'll be happy.
  13. *Gasp* the Kerbalverse will implode if there's more than one Jeb! Nah but honestly I love how funny the names get if enough Kerbonauts die. XD
  14. I'm about 70% of the way through unlocking the full tech tree. I hope more parts or challenges are added, it seems too easy without the part costs being factored in!
  15. The most complex design is not always the best when trying to get to a distant location. Sometimes, a smaller, stripped-down, more efficient version can get you there without the headache of making sure all the staging is correct!
  16. For those concerned about early exploits with a bunch of science instruments, don't forget that factoring in cost will eventually make it hard to send a lot of science up at once.
  17. The 2001 reference while orbiting Jool made my day. It especially fit because I'd sent a lone probe out there to do a "grand tour" of as many planets as possible and Jool was the last, lonely stop before it ran out of power...
  18. I DO THIS. When you decide to do "just one more mission," then look at the clock and realize it's 7am (and you started at 7pm.)
  19. I wouldn't call it a "hard" limit, but I have yet to get good enough at docking to put together the massive space stations I envision (I do however have several station parts, which need to be assembled, floating around in orbit). My solution to this problem has been to try and build a space tug, but all my designs have failed so far. XD
  20. This is awesome and I love it! Wasn't the Orion supposed to be launched with five Saturn V rockets or something like that? Now that's a launch. XD
  21. That... is such an awesome idea.
  22. Ok, so I'm sure this has been done before, but I'm going to start this up because I feel like it (and because I finally got my account back!) Let us start a KSP meme thread. Post your favorite KSP-themed memes, or ones you made yourself! You don't have to make them yourself, but you get extra awesome points if you do. (The images don't necessarily have to be yours, but you must come up with the catchphrase!) I'll get us started with one of my personal favorites: <image removed> I made these two just now: Happy designing!
  23. 0.22 has basically made me want to wait until career mode is implemented further before starting a new hardcore savegame.
