  1. I was pretty much only able to switch within 500 meters of each other... Maybe physics loads at shorter distances in-atmosphere? And yes. KiG vs Kero should happen.
  2. Well, to tell you the truth, the first two were made long before I even joined the forums. The second two I completed in the last few days. And its a Kinese assembly line thank you very much
  3. This is incredible! Really great design
  4. Well, Mach 1 is 340 m/s, but two thirds of that is pretty fast for a propeller plane
  5. Wow! Really great-looking plane. Gotta love clipping the engine in the tail .
  6. Well, this is what I've spent the last few hours working on: The KiG-21, by request. A bit cheatier than the others, seeing as there is a set of clipped winglets in the front, but other than that its pretty great . I'll probably update the OP to have this.
  7. Get it here! When the bureaucrats of the noble Kerbal's Socialist Republic learned that some planes were able to travel faster than the speed of sound, they at first mocked the idiocy of this idea. Then a squadron of Kritish supersonic jets bombed the Island Air Force Base. The jets were gone so fast that by the time our noble pilots woke up and put on their flight suits, they were long gone. Consequently, Ferris Industries was contracted to construct the new, curvy, Mach 2-capable Ku-160, based on the real-life Tu-160. With its four turbojets and, frankly, ridiculous amounts of fuel, this wonder of machinery was able to nearly circumnavigate Kerbin even with my pathetic piloting skills. And with its top speed of over 2520 km/hr (700 m/s), forget about letting those Kritish escape the beating they deserve . Important Craft Information Part Count: 108 Action Groups: 3: Toggle ladder Can sometimes be a bit wobbly. Unfortunately, as this is my first hypersonic craft and I'm not exactly experienced with building techniques, the plane's nose has to be considerably farther up than your velocity vector. Any advice on how to correct this would be vastly appreciated. One more thing: be EXTREMELY careful during landing. This thing has a tendency to fall apart if you bring it in for too steep of a landing, which means you'll probably have to be throttled up until touchdown to make sure your trajectory isn't too steep. Also, because of the clipped nose cone, EVAing can sometimes be a bit wonky. Overall though, I really like this one Creator's Note If you find this difficult to use in any way, be assured that I had trouble with it too, and that it is a lot about aesthetics, and just happens to be an OK flyer. This is my third contribution to the forums. If you even remotely like what you see, check out the Vertikal and the KiG series!
  8. Maybe. To tell you the truth, I much prefer the older Soviet designs like the R-7 launchers and the older MiGs to their newer designs. They have a really cool sci-fi vibe.
  9. I parked the KiG-15 far down the runway and got it ready for takeoff. Then I got the KomKat to take off, flew it low over the KiG, and switched to the KiG. Then I took off with the KiG and the chase began in earnest
  10. Also guys, just a teaser for the next plane I'll be uploading This thing's a beau. Based on the Tu-160, it is a wicked hypersonic bomber. At its cruising altitude of 12000 meters, it has a top speed beyond 600 m/s, which gives it some pretty wicked reentry effects. And, as always, relatively low part count at 108 parts. Coming soon!
  11. You think so? I based the design off of this graphic, do you think I messed it up a bit? It is, after all, not a COMPLETE replica.
  12. Thanks! Glad you enjoy my crafts! These were actually the first planes I ever successfully constructed, for most of my KSP career I've been focused on rockets
  13. Before complaining about non-stock crafts in a "stock craft" thread because of DYJ's minigun, please read the Creator's Note below. Thank you! Get the KiG-9 here!Get the KiG-15 here! Get the KiG-21 here! Get the KiG-23 here! Get the KiG-25 here! Get the KiG-35 here! A new series of aeroplanes from the Kerbal's Socialist Republic: The KiG series! Based off of the famous MiG-9, MiG-15, MiG-21, MiG-23, MiG-25 and MiG-35 jet fighters, these fast strikers are sure to satisfy your government's needs for a cheap, reliable, short-range fighter. Included with these planes is a revolutionary "maneuvering system", allowing the jets to be placed into hangars for safe storage. If you need small, reliable fighters, the KiG series is the way to go! Important Craft Information Part Counts: KiG-9 = 32 KiG-15 = 34 KiG-21 = 60 KiG-23 = 80 KiG-25 = 110 KiG-35 = 90 Action Groups: 3: Toggle ladder The most important thing to know with the KiG-9 and the KiG-15 is that you must take off CAREFULLY. They are EXTREMELY prone to tailstriking. As for the KiG-21, do not take off until you have reached 60 m/s, and be EXTREMELY cautious when landing. The engine is very far back and likes to explode when you land. Also make sure that SAS is enabled when landing, as the plane likes to turn to the left when braking for some reason. The KiG-23 is not EVA-capable. Also, wait until 60-70 m/s before taking off, it can sometimes tail strike (due to that winglet on the bottom ) The only thing with the KiG-25 is some minor landing issues, but they are not too bad. The KiG-35 is not EVA-capable. Also, feather the brakes before actually activating them, the plane sometimes tips forward if it's going too fast when you apply the brakes.. Creator's Note Yes, I realize the images have DYJ's minigun in them. Yes, I realize that this is a stock craft post. The craft files you can download have all mods completely removed from the planes, do not worry. If you want to add weapons, be my guest . Unfortunately, due to the weight distribution of the plane, it is impossible to place the cannons in their proper place (the nose), and you will probably have to side-mount them like I did. Have fun, and thanks for checking out my second thread on the forums! Don't worry, the KiG-23 album is a place holder Also, woo-hoo! 2000 views! This is incredible! Thank you all so much. Hey, Guys! More Crafts! K-35 (F-35 replica): download here. Screenshots here. KomKat (used in the KiG-9 and KiG-15 albums): download here.
  14. Thanks! I actually really like the 1950s sci-fi appeal of many russian spacecraft and aircraft. And the main reason I chose to base this off the Yak was because it was the first time I had learned the Soviets had a VTOL at all
  15. Sure thing . There will probably be another thread for their craft files if people really want them. Images below: They are (obviously) based on the MiG-9 and MiG-15 Russian jet fighters. Both planes come equipped with RCS to maneuver them into hangars: I also have non-stock versions with DYJ's minigun, but unfortunately due to weight distribution issues the cannons are side-mounted as opposed to nose-mounted like real life.
  16. Get it here! The Kerbal's Socialist Republic is proud to present its first contribution to the KSP Forums, the KSR Vertikal. This versatile, easy-to-fly Vertical Take-Off and Landing plane comes equipped with enough fuel to consider it a short- to medium-range vessel, and was roughly inspired by the Yak-38. Although there are a few issues with wobbling while landing due to the small area covered by the landing gears, we can assure you that the engineers who instigated these problems are... Silenced. An overall great flyer, President Ferris urges friendly nations to quickly purchase at least a few of these valuable pieces of machinery before they're all gone. Please, buy one. We basically drained the treasury designing this... Important Craft Information Part Count: 42 Action Groups: 1: Toggle VTOL Engine 2: Toggle Horizontal Engines 3: Toggle Ladder The craft is sometimes twitchy while landing and while on lower throttle with the VTOL engine. The Kerbal's Socialist Republic does not recognize the Kerbonational Court, and therefore is not legally responsible for any Kerbal deaths that occur due to the KSR Vertikal. Creator's Note I've been playing this game for roughly a year, and have just very recently gotten into spaceplanes. Actually quite satisfied with this, as it is my first really successful VTOL. Be warned, it uses reaction wheels for stability, so if you don't like the 'cheatiness' that comes with using mainly reaction wheels instead of actual wings for stability, then you probably don't want this craft. Of course, it is also a fantastic glider, so decide for yourself if it is cheaty . Have fun!
  17. Unfortunately I don't think Gimp has implemented career mode yet.
  18. Hmm... Must be an issue with joining local Windows-based servers. Did you put this on the git?
