Plastic grocery bag as a parachute. Come'on, you can't tell me none of you guys didn't do that as a kid!

The third number is the number of Centaur engines. While no two engine Centaur has flown yet the Atlas V design does allow for them, and I believe the most recent update of the ULA pack includes a dual-engine Centaur

[WIP] Space Launch System (SLS) and ORION (MPCV)
spawnofbill replied to Stevincent's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I'm pretty sure even Block 0 will be using non-recoverable five segment boosters as opposed to the Shuttle's recoverable 4 segment boosters. -

Spaceport still links to a v1.2 version for the Thor. -
[WIP] Space Launch System (SLS) and ORION (MPCV)

That may be how the real ones work, but what Dragon01 is talking about is separation motors that literally point perpendicular to the central tank. KSP pretty much requires this due to how in-game physics works. -
[WIP] Space Launch System (SLS) and ORION (MPCV)
spawnofbill replied to Stevincent's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Dragon01 was talking about Ares V, not Ares I. SLS Block I has a height of 321 FEET, not meters. Ares V was going to be 381 feet, so SLS is actually going to be smaller. http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/588413main_SLS_Fun_Facts.pdf -

But why have just another 3.75m rocket? The point of the SLS is to launch huge payloads, and with the advent of the auto-fairings mod making it size compatible really isn't an issue. I say go for the realistic 5.37m figure. -
[WIP] KerbX - A SpaceX analogue for KSP
spawnofbill replied to Borklund's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
2015 isn't a pushback for the human-rated Dragon. 2015 has always been the goal. SpaceX is on track to complete all their CCiCAP goals by mid-2014, and then do a crew launch sometime in 2015. http://www.nasaspaceflight.com/2013/01/spacex-crewed-dragon-the-advantage/ -
[0.25] Lionhead Aerospace Inc. - Icarus v0.4 updated

.75 seems to work perfectly. One thing I noticed with the DSL is that it can't be mounted in the correct way (basically upside-down, cruise stage attached to the centaur upper stage). Really a minor detail but it would be more accurate that way. -

I can't seem to find the "new" mumech anywhere online, besides the new Damned Robotics version. -

I'm having some issues with the old mumechlib.dll file. If I install it 90% of my parts disappear, including all the DSL Pandora parts. -
International construction ISS in Kerbal orbit.
spawnofbill replied to BobCat's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
So I'm getting a weird spamming error with the ISS Solar arrays when they move under animation. "[Error]: ConvexMesh::loadConvexHull: convex hull init failed!" I narrowed it down to the solar array cause as soon as I collapsed the array the error went away. -
[0.22.X] BobCat ind. Historical spacecraft thread
spawnofbill replied to BobCat's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
EDIT: Just watched the video and answered my own question, it's a two-stage. Foo. I guess maybe I could do some .cfg edits to turn it into a reusable lander though. Single stage as in one engine, one set of tanks. Most of the mock-ups of the Altair lander show a descent stage and a separate ascent stage. (pictured below) However all those show a vertical cabin, yours has a horizontal cabin that looks more like the much later designs near the cancelation of the Constellation program that use a single stage reusable lander that would stay attached to a lunar orbiting station when not on the surface. -

I'm sorry if I missed this, but is the Altair you're making a single-stage reusable lander as opposed to the two-stage configuration most commonly seen? Cause that would be awesome, I've been dying for a good looking reusable lander. -

I actually figured this out. Strut the Kliper to the payload base. For some reason the nosecone makes things ever so slightly wobbly, which causes a cascade effect. So you either run without the nosecone, or strut the Kliper. -

Ah, I guess I misspoke. What I want to remove is the engine shroud. I tried deleting that section from the .cfg but that just made the shroud permanently visible. -

spawnofbill replied to Yogui87's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
If there's a way of doing it through .cfg edits then I'll be perfectly happy with that. I tried removing the "ModuleJettison" and setting isFairing to False but neither did what I wanted. -

Given the lego-like approach KSP takes towards rocket building I'd hardly call it an "insignificant" detail. I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes to mix and match parts from different mod packs, and allowing one to use the EPS on rockets besides the Ariane 5 would be a general improvement to the pack. I realize that Yogui is doing this out of the kindness of his heart as with most modders, but the reason why I brought it up is that I genuinely believe that the pack would be better if the modification was made. If he decides to not do it, well then that sucks but I'll live with it. Furthermore, one more part isn't going to blow up your computer, and if all he does is create an EPS part in addition to the normal one that doesn't have the fairing then you don't even have to use it, thereby not increasing the part count needed to assemble the Ariane 5.
