  1. (Stock aerodynamics, no FAR or NEAR) After many crashes and aborted launches I managed to make a clean, simple SSTO that can carry around 30 tonnes to LKO. Note that I'm using the Intake Build Aid mod 0.90 to make sure the engines flamout evenly. I hope it can inspire some people. The main design idea was to make the Rapiers with their intakes into simple units that can be easily placed on the wings, which otherwise has a tendency to bend upwards. Their weight counteracts this bending to a certain degree. The wings are also placed a bit high to get the thrust from the engines more in-line with the COG/Drag. Otherwise to keep the craft as simple as possible. In preparation for flight, make sure to put the Rapier mode and intakes open/closed all connected to action groups, and also distribute intakes to engines by hovering mouse over any engine and hitting F7. MK3 Spaceplane, 30 tonnes to to LKO: Further optimization is possible by perhaps moving the rocketfuel tanks forward and jetfuel back, since the COG moves perhaps too much backwards during flight. As well as placing the engines at different points on the wings. Note that this design is just made to carry a load to orbit. It can easily be modified to fly further itself though, by replacing the load with 30 tonnes of fuel, and perhaps adding an efficient rocket engine at the back.
  2. I present to you my Modular Multipurpose Rover Chassis! It is basically a adjustable height/tension rover chassis that will let you mount things underneath, on top, or both. All are possibe variants, but the great advantage lies in the fact that you can set the Center of Mass higher or lower as you see fit. Even while driving! The suspension system is what makes it shine, it is tested stable with different payloads from zero to 18 tons on Kerbin. By attaching a docking port underneath you can move almost any not too tall object and drop it off where you like it. By attaching a crane and docking ports on top you can build whatever you want. Another idea is to attach a modular crane stability system underneath, with which you can mount a huge crane on top for very heavy loads. Use your imagination, this chassis can do it all! It also lands well at very high speeds, tested lightly loaded up to 35 m/s at kerbin, with only easily repairable broken tires. (You need Infernal Robotics forum link) Some quick examples of different uses: Here's the craft file as a subassembly: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/486399/MultipurposeChassis.craft
  3. Awesome work If I may ask for something similar as a request.. A general shock absorber. I've been building some rovers now with the robotics pack.. My problem is that they become way too springy! No shock absorbers means the rover easily jumps all over the place and retains its own wacky energy that gets ricocheted around in it. A simple cube with 2, 4 or 6 shock absorbing sides with attachement points would be amazing!
  4. Finally managed to get to Moho with your app Thanks a lot!
  5. I'm really not an expert, but did a purely chemical, non-aspargus science mission. In the end I had lots of dv to spare too! Did take me a few tries though.. My first mission to Duna was an unmanned research and communications sattelite. It ended up in a polar orbit by accident, which is great for comms around half the year as it has nearly constant line of sight to Kerbin. .. It also carried 2 small communications sattelites orbiting duna. (using RT 2) Duna II was a manned lander, but missed the encounter. I should get around to trying to get my kerbonaut back to kerbin some day.. He's been there for years! Duna III reached Target, but I realized I put my new heavy duty landing legs upside down too late. It was supposed to be a robotic lander, but I also forgot to put a probe core in there.. At least it put up some communications sattelites around Duna. Duna IV did some ****up in the encounter, by this time i was tired and just termitated it. In the end Duna V made it with the same design as Duna IV:
  6. Hey, my first post here Perhaps a stupid question, but I read through this thread. My problem is simply that I don't have any antennas that can control my rocket from launch, and if I create a little launch module with 1 kerbonaut, the antennas breaks off from earodynamic pressure. Now, I have setup a decent comsat system that works and all that, everything works! I just have to launch every rocket manned, at least until it is outside the atmoshpere.. My request: A simple little antenna that would not break off, is pre-activated, and would last until I'm out of the atmoshpere would really make my life as a chief rocket scientist much easier! Otherwise, love your work!
