  1. Granted this was a very simple rocket, and these numbers won't stay the same for another rocket, but using three stages of throttle, I was able more than double the distance it could climb. Does that translate to fuel efficiency? Here are results from several tests on 0.21.1 using all stock parts and launching as straight up as possible. Maximum altitude was measured from the point where the ship actually physically passed through apoapsis. The ship was a single stage consisting of an Aerodynamic Nose-cone, Remote Guidance Unit, one FL-T400 fuel tank, and one LV-T30 engine. Launch pattern 1 - 100% until burnout 30.9km Launch pattern 2 - 50% until 10km - 100% until burnout 60.9km Launch pattern 3 - 25% until 10km - 50% until 20km - 100% until burnout 73km Launch pattern 4 - 20% until 10km - 40% until 20km - 100% until burnout 56.6km Launch pattern 5 - 25% until 10km - 40% until 20km - 100% until burnout 72.7km Launch pattern 6 - 25% until 20km - 100% until burnout 72.9km Launch pattern 7 - 33% until 10km - 66% until 20km - 100% until burnout at 21km 74km Launch pattern 8 - 33% until 10km - 50% until 20km - 100% until burnout at 21km 76.6km Launch pattern 9 - 33% until 10km - 40% until 20km - 100% until burnout at ~21km 78km
