I also managed to land a plane that's not a VTOL on the "hard" runway. It's hard to tell the speed at which it touches the ground since the deceleration is very short.

This is going nowhere. Why on earth (or Kerbin) would people challenge themselves with arbitrary rules when it's easier without them??? Oh, wait, it's called a challenge... -

Obviously, it's easy with MechJeb... Also, try without it and with re-entry too (better, land back at KSC) and no quicksave/reload (that resets the F3 readings). -

Get Jeb into space (>70km periapsis) with him experiencing the least 'most gee force endured' (F3 proof). Never tried to do it, so I just don't know if you can go below 2.0G or even 1.5G. -
That's what I have in mind when I hear 'dropship': I built this some time ago, and of course it doesn't qualify per the 'drop from orbit' rule, but it looks quite stupid, so here we are.

You can do it:

I never went to the alternate KSC base, so I decided to go for the Chinhook award with a modified version of the Helijet nicknamed the "Head Chopper". Quantum mechanics allows Kerbals not to feel the discomfort of the blades going through your head or so, I heard from Cave Johnson . He also mentioned something about those burn marks too...

I use Open Broadcaster Software to record videos, it's simple to use and will produce ~250MB files for a half an hour recording in 720p. -
I don't know if my concept is ok, but if it is it has all these categories with no variant used (only one design) : Precision award - Rotors only The Jet Ranger distinction - Helo flight with some jet boosts, can be done rotors only The Eggington award - Jet flight The Ferry award - Jet flight The Kasprowicz distinction - Jet flight The Boulet award - Rotors only The Church award - Rotors only At low altitude, you fly like a regular helicopter using the rotors and if you want to go fast and high, you turn on the jet engines and stop the rotors. It flies a bit like an airplane, but is much less stable since it has NO lift surface or control surface whatsoever. If I add lawnchairs, I'm sure I can get the Chinook award quite easily since I circumnavigated non-stop.

I think you can cut the number of rotor in half by using the cargo throttle. You have to bind it to an action group to use it, and it enable you to use the rotors at full power (4 bear rotors are enough to lift 40 tons with that).

I hope my design follows the spirit of the competition . This is the Rcr, made by Kerbal Dynamics, a P1 class car (top speed around 27m/s) that made it in 09:18. It was a bit hard to drive as I constantly had to adjust its pitch, but that was a fun car to design. -
Nope, but like you, I didn't notice the cargo throttle option (and docking to that is very difficult to achieve). I'll have a try with a pre-attached payload.

Managed to bring a overly complicated helicopter to the island and back (kinda...) and to land the thing on the helipad.

Kerbin Solar Circumnavigation Challenge
leafty replied to g00bd0g's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Your two solar challenges are just too similar. They may require different optimizations, but we only see two times the same-ish challenge. Choose one of your challenges, remove it and resubmit it in two months time when the first challenge is already dead. I'm not judging your challenges, but what you did was a bad move.
