  1. Try playing stock kerbal but only in IVA view. No maps, no nodes, no lines. Make it to the mun like Armstrong did. Thats hardcore...
  2. The next challenge we be vary nice. I'm preparing a scenario file that will have the kerbals to be rescued.
  3. I'll keep this challenge going to the end of the week to see if any one can get to Vall, Eeloo or Moho, and maybe improve their position. I'll create a new challenge for the rescue with less parts.
  4. So the final result: 1st: Metaphor (tylo - 10 parts) 2nd: Smidge204 (Bop -5 parts) 3rd: Firerunner (Laythe - 7 parts) 4th: Suns (Laythe - 9 parts) 5th: SRV Ron (Laythe 10 parts) 6th: Jaleco (Duna - 9 parts) My last run to laythe with 6 parts gave me 3rd place.
  5. Cause with 10.000 anyone can. With only 10 you'll have to think. Any Last minute submission?
  6. I also have a design that could get to Tylo and back to Kerbin in 10 parts plus a launch clamp (using docking ports doubling as decouplers). Strategy for this one: Use 2 orange tanks plus mainsail to get to ~30 km altitude and 1000 m/s, undock both docking ports, turn middle part around and redock to nuclear engine, use LV-T30 engine to get a high enough apoapsis that the nuclear engine can do the rest of the circularization, use nuclear engine to get from LKO to low Tylo orbit, undock lander, land on Tylo, and get back up to orbit, redock, use nuclear engine to get back to Kerbin. Congratulation. I never tought about another smaller stage after the nuclear. Well there is some time to the end of the day to we declare you the winner. I'll try my new rocket right now.
  7. Well, so no one could get to Tylo. I did try, but didn't made it. I was thinking about the next challenge: The rescue mission that kerbal that is in Laythe. We landed on water. How are we going to recue on water????
  8. This makes you number 1 for now, cause your ship had 5 parts and my 10. I've been trying to get to tylo but there's some dv missing. Aerobraking at jool is trick to. I'm going to try something closer today. I haven't set a time limit for submissions, but I think that we can declare a winner on monday and then start the challenge for rescuing with less parts. What do you say?
  9. I know that. But I did that mission some time ago, and I sent by photo to my brother-in-law. Before I create this thread I formated my pc and lost the screenshot, but I have it on my phone. I'm doing this challenge again with 6 parts trying to get to Tylo. I will send some screens when I can. I'm at work right now so I make maneuvers every break a get, :D:D:D
  10. The idea would be "One Way Trip" cause I want to make a second challenge that would be a rescue mission of that kerbal with a minimum parts. But we could use this as a tiebreaker. At first I had used this map, but "Bigger Number" doesn't always means "Harder".
  11. I think you are right, but I think you understand that what I meant was "the hardest". The point is TO LAND as Far as you can FROM Kerbin, so orbiting kerbin wouldn't get you anywhere from Kerbin. If there was a distance chart we could use it, althought I think "the Hardest" will fit better here. So I'll use the Kasuha's post just to have a base for ranking. Yeah I think that's a good idea. No. The lift stages are included in the 10 parts. For example: You lift 2 5-parts orbiting kerbin with half tank, so you could dock then and get the fuel to 1 ship and then go on with only 1 ship. Why don't you try and make it your submission?
  12. Thanks Chris. I'm not an expert player. What do you think now? Minmus (easiest) Mun Ike Dres Duna Gilly Eve (here is good?) Eeloo Moho Pol Bop Vall Laythe Tylo (Hardest) Jool (Impossible!!!)
  13. What do you mean with this "entry"? I would gladly answer you if I knew what that was. I did the challenge as my previous reply shows. I'm sorry the description of the challenge isn't so good. But I'm sure this challenge will make you think differently about constructing your future ships. And just by doing this challenge, you will have the base to the next challenge: To Rescue a kerbal with the smaller number of parts.
  14. I didn't even considered the Sun because you have to LAND safely. But I'm amazed with how far you can go with only 5 parts. Send some pics so we can learn...
  15. I already did this challenge. I'm pretty sure you can do better. I went to Duna with 9 parts. Pictures and my ship. Base: 1 mainsail + 3 long busters. I didn't realize that I could have placed 4 busters. Top: Parachute + Command pod mk1 + flt 400 small tank + nuclear rocket + TR18-A stack decoupler.
  16. My brother-in-law come up with this challenge. The idea was to explore the stock parts of Kerbal. We see all kind of mod with super parts that aren't going to be invented in the next millenium. I want to make people think and use what they really have right now. The challenge consists on landing a kerbal on any planet or satellite. Doesn't matter if his coming back. What matter is that he stays alive. Rules: 1st: The challenge is to be made on stock parts of the last kerbal version (0.22) . No mods with super unrealistic parts are allowed. 2nd: Kerbal must survive. 3rd: You must land at the planet or natural satellites. 4th: The total parts used is 10, so you can lift off with two 5-parts ship, dock, undock, do what ever you want to do, but can use only 10 parts or less. 5th: You must launch from Kerbin ground. Classification: There will be 3 point to consider: 1st: Using the average amount o DeltaV used to land to the specific planet I came up with this list: Minmus Eve Duna Mun Gilly Ike Dres Laythe Pol Bop Vall Eeloo Moho Tylo Jool (Impossible) So landing on Jool would be the furthermost place to land. 2nd: Number of parts. 3rd: Number of Kerbals alive. *The 2nd and 3rd points will be used as tiebreakers. *Next challenge will be: Rescuing this kerbal with the least number of parts.
