totm oct 2023 Post Your Cinematics Here! (Cinematic Enthusiasts)
Jimor replied to Halban's topic in KSP Fan Works
Since my first cinematic in April, I've completed 3 more in the series. Each video uses a song from Approaching Nirvana's Cinematic Soundscapes, Vol 2. I'm planning to do one for each of the 14 songs on the album. Video 1: First Steps (posted in the thread earlier) Video 2: A Foothold Video 3: Because It's There Video 4: Colony -

Finally gave this a try. "Filmed" and edited in my Twitch livestream. Music by Approaching Nirvana. -
New Demo is too hard.
Jimor replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
It doesn't matter where on the craft the reaction wheels are, the torque will affect the craft the same. My recommendation for the demo is to put one on top of the pod, then if you have radially attached stages, put one on top of each stack. That should typically give you enough control for most of what you'd do in the demo. If you find it isn't enough, you can double them up. Also a set of 4 fins at the bottom of the central stack should give you enough stability where flipping is mitigated. Good luck! -
I'm firing up Twitch for some Career Mode play in 0.90. I've just completed a Duna/Ike set of contracts in my previous session, so most of this will probably be interplanetary as I fill in the last couple of tiers on the tech tree, so come on down and join the fun. Questions answered as best I can for those needing help. http://twitch.tv/Jimorian I'll also use this thread for future stream announcements to avoid cluttering up the board.

Episode 10. We establish orbit around Ike, land and collect science to complete the contract, and then travel home to collect our rewards!
-
Episode 9. I build the ship that will take us to Ike, basing it on the basic Mun lander, then start the voyage with an explanation of how to encounter another planet.

Kerbal Speed Program - A Chipmunk Commentary Career Mode Series in .23.5
Jimor replied to Jimor's topic in KSP Fan Works
. We take the Duna Explorer to Duna, get some orbital science, and then land on Ike for even moar! -
Episode 8. The contract says plant a flag on Mun, so that's what we do, as well as take one some other minor contracts before our next major exploration.
-
Episode 7. I take on the Explore Minmus contract, but forget one very important element: accepting the contract before flying the mission! Still, it's successful for getting bunches of science and demonstrating how to get there.

Hey,anyone have some tips for making youtube video
Jimor replied to agent 902's topic in KSP Fan Works
Nice job for your first video. The main tip is always have fun, and keep going. The more you do it, the better you get at the commentary, and if you're having fun, that will naturally come across to the viewer and they'll be more likely to want to see more. -
Episode 6. I take a little more time to explain how to select contracts, then we make some more orbital flights to fulfill the ones we picked. This is the one I was recording when Jeb spontaneously exploded while walking along the ground on Kerbin. My guess is that it was because of a hidden discontinuity in the ground mesh? I dunno, it was just weird. You can see the full sequence at around the 36:00 minute marker of the normal voice version.

Kerbal Speed Program - A Chipmunk Commentary Career Mode Series in .23.5

. Now that the station is in place, I can use it to assemble the ship I'll send to Duna for more science. -
Episode 5. This episode is all about flying to Mun, with little tricks and tips along the way to ensure a smooth mission. In the end, we come back with a LOT of tasty science points to spend!

I was recording for my How To Contract series when this amusing little incident happened while I had Jeb on EVA on Kerbin after he rescued another Kerbal from orbit. It's curious enough where I pulled the clip for its own upload. And here are screen caps of the 2 frames before and 3 after, so you don't have to do the work of pausing the video yourself. Unfortunately, it doesn't really show all that much even then. While this is too unrepeatable for a formal bug report, for those curious, this was 0.24.2 32-bit on Win7
-
Episode 4. I make some mistakes, get other things wrong, but still manage to successfully fly 2 of the ships built last episode, then build the ship that will take us to Mun!
-
Episode 3. Because continuing to develop in Career Mode takes meeting specific contract conditions, I build one ship for multiple tests in orbit, then fly the mission, and then demonstrate builds for 3 more specialized ships for particular mission specs.
-
That was so amazingly fantastic. And while I always say this when I comment on a lot of the various KSP Cinematics, while I appreciate the technical qualities of the film editing and effects (I work in video/TV), it's the sound design and soundtrack that brings a film to life, and I felt the moments as I believe you intended. Great job!

Kerbal Speed Program - A Chipmunk Commentary Career Mode Series in .23.5
Jimor replied to Jimor's topic in KSP Fan Works
. I bring up pieces of the new asteroid orbital station and attach them in preparation for interplanetary missions. -
Episode 2. I talk about how to pick and choose contracts based on difficulty and reward, build a couple of ships capable of accomplishing them, and then fly the missions. . .
-
How To Contract! is a (mostly) daily series that will run through the double gauntlet of Science and Contract Missions with the goal of completing the tech tree. Are you having problems deciding which of all the myriad of contracts you should do? Do you keep running out of Funds before you can get to the fun stuff? Is your reputation plunging into the abyss because you keep failing contracts and killing Kerbals? The tutorial part of this is that I will explain how to succeed in full Career Mode by running reasonable flights with simple rockets designed to focus on completing missions in such a way as to continually gain Science and Funds at a sustainable pace. And because I like the "Kerbal Voice" style of speeding up footage and audio by 150%, but I realize that some people find that really annoying, I'm uploading each episode in both Normal and Speed modes so that the final choice is yours. Episode 1. I get a bit of Pre-Science on the launch pad, then run through the starting 4 contracts with 2 basic flights. In the end, we've unlocked 6 of the early tech nodes, and we're ready to start taking on the procedurally generated contracts in the next episode. : :

Kerbal Speed Program - A Chipmunk Commentary Career Mode Series in .23.5
Jimor replied to Jimor's topic in KSP Fan Works
. I bring all our wayward Kerbals back home in a series of short missions, which frees up the necessary kermanpower for building the asteroid base next episode. -
Kerbal Speed Program - A Chipmunk Commentary Career Mode Series in .23.5
Jimor replied to Jimor's topic in KSP Fan Works
. I get the asteroid in a nice circular low Kerbin orbit, and then I start prepping things to rescue all those Kerbals in the failed asteroid tugs. -
Kerbal Speed Program - A Chipmunk Commentary Career Mode Series in .23.5
Jimor replied to Jimor's topic in KSP Fan Works
. I start hauling all my failed ships back into Kerbin orbit along with the asteroid and the tug that finally could. Still some work to do, but it's getting closer!
