  1. Thank you. I was able to land at each biome, dock and save all the science. I did the "rinse, repeat" thing for a few hours and gained 6000 science points on Minmus alone! It does feel like a grind though getting the points to advance in research.
  2. I just put a lab into Minmus' orbit, landed a lander on the Greater Flats, gathered a sample, performed all the sciences and re-docked with my lab. So now what? Do I EVA, remove all the science data from the units and then reset them? The other question I have is regarding the surface samples. Can I take a sample from every biome with me and store them all at once in my lander? (I'm flying the lander back to Kerbin with all the science). Any help appreciated.
  3. First time I used MechJeb's landing guidance tool I was in awe and thought "WITCHCRAFT!". It put my lander down exactly where I wanted. That was the last time the thing worked for me though. Ever since it's gone into "wiggle loops", warps indefinitely, comes out of warp only to continue doing nothing in 1x time, tries to maintain the landing position by diving "suicide style" towards the planet, does a de-orbit burn only to not brake while falling towards the surface etc.... It does this with anything I build, small probes, large landers, and it does it if I choose the landing spot or if I just click "land somewhere"... what's up with that? Landing Guidance is the only part of MechJeb I have problems with, everything else is still magic. Does anybody know the trick to get this thing to perform good landings every time?
  4. Unfortunately without power I wasn't able to do that either. Unfortunately this is an empty bus. No crew to push the thing around (I like that solution though, didn't think about that) and the point where I figured out this thing is dead was right as it entered the Mun's influence and want to schedule an orbit burn. I wasn't able to do that burn before I was far passed the Mun so my bus would have been stuck in a big orbit around Kerbin. I did find a workaround though. Overnight I left the ship flying and in the morning I hit F9 to reload the moment I entered the Mun's influence and for some reason it loaded it with the Sun at a different angle and my batteries fully charged!
  5. I went to the Mun today with my little "bus", solar panels fully extended, sun dead ahead shining its glorious rays onto them and ended up with a dead battery anyways. I mean... seriously!?
  6. I've messed up and stranded three Kerbals on Duna with too little fuel to reach orbit, I'm ashamed, but I'm also sure I'm not the first one to do this. I have two options to get them back, land another lander close by with enough fuel to get back home or make ridiculously complex rover that can couple with the coupler in the nose so I can transfer fuel. So I was wondering if it would be possible to come up with a way to introduce a simple fuel hose? That way I can land a big fuel tank on wheels on Duna, drive it within a certain range and "fuel up" my stranded lander. Not sure if a fuel hose would be interesting besides using it on rescue missions (fuel station on the Mun for a ferry bus?) but it does seem silly that there isn't something that simple available in a space program.
  7. I just haven't seen anything suggesting that this will be the case in the "What's already planned" posts. I might have missed it of course. Implementing such a system would open up the possibilities of adding a payload category where we would be charged of placing it in the correct orbit and orientation after which it would be out of our control. Maybe we could be fined if afterwards we happen to run into one of those payloads and break it? Just an idea.
  8. I find it annoying that I go through a lot of work to put a probe on or around a planet/moon, spent a minute to send the science data and then the probe is useless. Right now pumping as many missions out as possible to gather science points so I can research the next stage feels more like grinding then actual fun gameplay. I agree that in real life probes provide more then just a single burst of data and then they're done and would also love to see some sort of gradual science gathering system. I was also thinking gradual science downloads but I do think timers that require you to come back later to send another burst of data is a great idea too! The amount of science points gathered each time could decrease the way it did when we could still continuously reset the experiments. As to people being able to exploit this system, people can also just go play with the sandbox and not worry about gathering science at all. I don't think people want to spend their time at warp speed just to gather science in stead of having fun playing the game and if they do, so what? It won't impact our fun any will it?
  9. Would a contract system be possible? When/if a monetary system limits the building of rockets it would be great to have contract offers from companies and the government to put payloads like communication satellites, spy satellites etc into orbit. As an extension, contracts could also be awarded to replace/repair/remove those satellites. Even more of a challenge would be government grants to put a Kerbal on the Mun or perform certain scientific experiments. I see this as a great storyline option where you can't just build the biggest rockets regardless of cost and have something to work towards.
