Symmetry/attach node question?

Is there a way to set the radial attachment point of this part so that the lettering doesn't face the same direction on each side? Like the parts on the outsides are oriented? The darker section the the lettering is on opens and swings down so that the words can be read when the plane is on the runway, and I'd like them to open symmetrically. Also it seems as though the attachment offset values aren't working either..

Edit: Got the offset to work, still can't figure out the symmetry issue though.

The symmetry problem is a bug/feature. If you want it fixed start a suggestion thread in the suggestions section.
