Hells... RSS is hard ??

Spent long hours trying various configs just to get a few 'Km's down the road'.

Eventually I 'invented' a 2-stage monster just to get the first part of my station into orbit.

I nearly ran my station fuel dry just to get orbit.. but that OK as I'm going to send up more fuel..

2nd stage burning..

You have no idea what a pleasure it is to see this !!!:D

Must sort out the cockpit screens...

What can I say... Station cruising

Neat! That looks like Kerbin, is it the 10x scale config?

Also, i feel like I should mention, it doesn't look like you're using FAR. FAR is very much a requirement for RSS configs because they make the atmosphere thin enough. Without FAR, Earth can be 12km/s to orbit, but with FAR it can be as low as 9.8

It took a few tries to get it right...

My space station parts we coming in between 45-65 tons a piece, and I wanted to achieve a 600-1000km orbit.

.. so thinking I just put a few large rockets together and it'll be OK... HAR HAR!!:sticktongue:

First rocket me - neat slick but only up to 200Km and no orbit..

Try something different... well no difference..

OK alright If I have to do big.. then I'll do it..

(not my prettiest invention but I was getting desperate :D)

...got into the neighbouring country (they were upset), but no orbit:huh:

Have a rest... next day try a different angle...

Whoopie.. into orbit at around 400Km+ .. but had to use my station fuel to achieve this..;.;

(I need this fuel when the ship station is built)

Geez man!! How big do i have to go.. Look at the internet, Apollo project.

WOW! Saturn-V weighing in a 3.8 million

Oh.. very well.. let's make the Mother of all Rockets (I need a bigger VAB)

Weighing in at 3.4 million.. I present the perfect 'weight shifter'

700KM orbit and all my station fuel still on board..:):)

I can see part of your problem already...you need to get a hold of some fairings...FAR...interwoven into RSS, is giving you some drage due to your pieces being out in the open like that!

I was wondering if aerodynamic resistances had kicked in yet ! But I'll do that anyway.

I'm doing RSS + Far + Deadly Reentry + Stock - I in fact was doing career mode untill i hit a snag (the launch pad only supports 18 tons and i need 100 to get to orbit). Might edit persist to fix that, but other than that my sandbox mode is doing great, I already made orbit once!

I just want to say that that shock-cone-intake+stayptunik-core system looks great! Does it actually help with drag though?
