I just got done mapping Ike as well, from an altitude of 75 kilometers. It's a little bit more complete than the previous Ike map. I'm moving on to map Gilly and Eve next.

EDIT: Here is the CSV data for Ike

That's the Prometheus Solar Rover from the Lionhead Aerospace thread.

It's just strip down to the basic frame and then I added what I wanted.

It is also the larger first version as the newer one is much smaller.

I'd like to have both sizes, but I'm unsure how to rename all the files properly, so I'm staying with this one for now at least.

So i made a map sat with it final stage powered by ion engines. I took forever to change my orbits in meaningful ways, so the data is not even close to being complete. Either way, here are the results.

Map Data

Note that the map data is 50mb compressed and 150mb when uncompressed and has not had the duplicates removed.

[thread=20373]Try it now![/thread]

I wish I could take credit for something that awesome.

I was looking for a module that would allow me to explore the new planets and moons in a more scientific way. I wanted data, informations.

And so I wrote to Iannic-ann-od, asking him if he could make it happen...

BUT HE WAS ALREADY MAKING IT!!!

I think I have to redesign my probes now.

Sweeeeeeet!

I mapped ALL the things.

But I was a derp and didn't get any .csv files out of it because I didn't have the option enabled, so it was all wasted time and effort. I was primarily looking for potential landing sites. =\

Oh well, maybe the rough images will be of some use to someone...

Thanks to the VOID module, it is now possible to study planets and moons in real time!

Here is my Moho Probe going in for an atmosphere sample. As we can see, the temperature increases alarmingly fast once you reach the upper atmosphere that starts at about 27~28km.

But even at 19km, there is too little of it to effectively aerobreak your craft.

I hope to be able to land another probe soon to get readings from the surface.

You know what would be nice? More data! As in, if VOID could collect data points in the same way that ISA MapSat does now (okay, obviously not exactly the same way; csv output might be a good idea, however for so many different data types, something like JSON might be appropriate).

I must have missed something somewhere. VOID module??

It's here and it gives a bunch of info on the planet, atmosphere and temperature.

Although temperature is outside the ship, so not necessarily surface temp.

Would be nice to be able to do a surface temp map of a planet.

I think you could still do that with the crx telemetry plugin. But I have never tried it and don't even know if it still works in 0.17.

I like the fact that the VOID module is so much easier to use, even if you can't record the data.
