Now this is pod racing mk2

Recommended Posts

After trying my best to build a completely stock pod racer i was not 100% happy with the results,

So i ended up resorting to a few mods and here are fruits of my labour.

Now this is pod racing mk2

Description:

The ultimate in pod racing technology, this craft will put a smile on any kerbals dial, capable of over 140m/s and reliably going over rough terrain this baby is sure to kill some of your afternoon around the KSC.

Sorry to the laptop users but the part count is high, i could not keep it low and have it function. (Thats a lite i could have but aesthetics :D)

Launch instructions:

Press 1 until the craft is sitting on the ground, decouple the command pod and EVA your kerbal, go and attach both winches to the pod racer engine then board the craft, press 2 until the craft is as high as it will go then decouple the mount on the engines first then the mount on the pod, Change controls to the pod racer engines not the pod itself, right click the command unit and press "control from here" turn the SAS on the engines on and away you go.

Action groups:

1 - Lower craft

2 - Raise craft

3 - Toggle engines

Required mods:

Kerbal Attachment System.

I like the design but I think it needs Quantum Struts for the energy coupling in the middle. They also go a lot better with a Firespitter/B9 airbrake on the pod, it keeps the cables tighter.

I wanted to use quantum struts but i could not get it to work on my KSP :( built this on 0.90.

Oh and for some weird reason any aerodynamic parts on the pod were making the engines cut out when the pod was directly behind them, why i ended up going for a structural part only pod design
