So sick of this one bug...

Recommended Posts

Dock and TADA!!! You can't go back to the space center, or anywhere else for that matter. Hit ESC, click Space Center and be amazed aaaahhhhhzzzzzzz.....

Nothing Happens.

GAH@!@!$^&!@#$

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

Somewhat Kerbal Content:

Am I correct in thinking that the ONLY way out of that situation is to "force quit" the game (meaning right click and "Close Window")?

I've spotted a bug like this one recently (last few days). I cant actually remember what I had just done, it wasnt a dock, I think i switched to a flight in progress, a tractor towing a surface base to Duna. Screen wouldnt load (only some UI elements), speed was NaN, map was black, clicking space centre did nothing.

Had to force quit (sever the thread in control panel). Save file was actually corrupted and had to scrap the game. Might not be exactly what you saw, but its the only time the game has blocked me from going to space centre.

Doesn't happen to me often, but yeah, it's painful when it does, and I can't find a graceful way out of it either. It's up there with 'buildings don't respond' and 'KSC isn't there' for forcing a restart.

Though my personal pet peeve is orbit changes when passing SOI boundaries. So... deeply... aggravating!

That right there is why every day I save-as a dated file... Do not trust KSP not to randomly nadger my game with the NaN kraken.

This usually happens when I get further with modded careers. Lots of NaN errors and such with space stations and other more complicated stuff.

Don't think it has ever happened to me in vanilla version but I tend to run out of interested without all the extra stuff so maybe I just haven't done enough.

I do wonder about that too Varsi. From personal experience the game becomes generally less stable with lots of complex flights in progress. More so if those flights involve docking connections.

The most recent time I saw this however was vanilla(ish). I had KAC/KER/PNode only. The tractor/surface base that bugged out was aimed at a high-end contract on Duna surface and was the only craft outside Kerbin's SOI...but kerbin space was full with 30-odd surface/orbital stations and other misc craft.

@eddiew: Good plan, think i'll have to start a similar routinue.

I only had this in one save/install with a ton of mods in 0.25. Never had it in stock or with my current modded install. Never had a corrupted save file either. Sometimes all the talk about bugs and krakens make me feel like I have some sort of magical super stable install of KSP or something :P

Have you tried carefully to replicate it and then submitted a bug report? 'cause the devs can't do anything about a bug they don't have a note for.

As far as I know this is a "known" issue, and frankly the process of bug submission is a PITA - starting with "Carefully replicate it". Been down that road, redoing hours of gameplay, as best I could, only to have it NOT happen.

That thread is stickied and contains instructions on the way to post your problem that can get you assistance. It contains instructions on how to find and post the correct log files that will help others to help you.

And yes, you have a log file even if you did not crash. You always have a log file unless you explicitly disabled logging.
