kaspersky pure 3 vs internet security?

I would like to buy yourself a good antivirus and firewall to protect my new laptop and desktop computer.

I think whether you buy Kaspersky Pure 3 on 3 computers for two years, then I could withdraw to my brother one license.

I did not think that my older brother can be so naive, someone kidnapped his account on Facebook, a hacker. My brother opened the link, a guy offered him free points to a game that my brother on facebook, at the beginning of my brother ignored the guy, but this guy tried convinced him and my brother finally agreed :(

Just get Microsoft Security Essentials for free.

Those other antivirus just eat resources and none of them will protect you against idiocy.

For free? Does that means Mac users can download it for free?

Don't. Antivirus are basically snake oil. Use Firefox with Ghostery and AdBlock plus Microsoft essantials.

If you are wory about other users on your computer, consider installing a linux distribution on a dual boot so you can sleep well.

Really, don't spend a dime on that.

I am so glad to see common sense showing up in an anti-virus thread. No need to spend money on an antivirus. Please take the money you would have spent on an antivirus and donate it to your favorite charity. It will make the world a better place. Then use one of the free ones if you just can't get into your head that antivirus software does absolutely nothing to protect your computer from bad browsing decisions (ie : falling for facebook scams).

I would *not* rely on Microsoft Security Essentials. It's bombed in recent tests, and I've personally had it fail to protect PCs. As far as free AV goes Panda and AVG do well.

For commercial software, I find a lot of it suffers from featuritis and bloat, often of dubious merit. Kaspersky in general I rate but I'd go towards their simpler, slimmed-down offerings if I was buying. Keep in mind that firewalls can be a nuisance since their job is to make things not work; I'd only bother with one if I used public wifi a lot, there's no need at home since your router firewalls you.

I know, but my older brother knows I like him very much, but my brother is 42 years old and hw is a simple construction worker does not know much about the internet.

The funny thing is that my bro a month ago he shared a post his FB profile about Internet safety

Rule of thumb: the more frequently someone talks about internet safety the less familiar with internet safety they are. The only exception is people who are paid to talk about internet safety.

Use Linux. Never had a virus there, and besides... we have KSP x64 :D

Now really. Paid antivirus is not really necessary as long as you don't visit too many download and/or adult content sites frequently. If all your gaming needs are covered by steam, you are basically okay.

If not... Get ESET smart security, if you can pay for it. Eats less resources than anything else I've ever seen. But then again, I have been using linux for most of my life...

Malware Bytes + Avira.

Looks like MWB already got its share of fans so I will not speak 'bout it.

On the other hand the Avira antivirus is light, not "invasive" as others I can recall, upgraded as often as MWB (sometimes 4 or 5 times each day) and with a very good security rating and last but not least it is free. There are paid releases too but I really will not pay any money for an antivirus in a "private" environment.
