Why do the stock command capsules not have lights?

I was wondering why the stock 1 and 3 man command pods dont have lights? this annoys me to no end because I love the way lights make a ship come to life in the blackness of space, especially on the dark side. I know its difficult for developers, but I was wondering if someone knows of a way to get around this? Wouldnt it be amazing if someone made a mode with a few different types of portholes you could stick anywhere?!

I think the lights were introduced by the new spaceplane parts added in a recent update, which I think were originally from Porkjet's "Spaceplane Plus" mod, so the command pods that predate that don't have internal lights.

Internal lights for all the command pods would be quite welcome as far as I'm concerned--they look cool, and I often use them as a "don't forget that there are kerbals in this part!" indicator.

Ven's stock part revamp retextures all the squad parts and allows lights in most of the capsule. It also makes the stock parts look nicer and engines more realistic.

I agree that the cockpits need lighting. Space stations look so abandoned in the current darkness.

jolly good, now I can take my old vehicle that use these light-less windows and smash them into the Mun where they belong.

This would be an interesting mod idea too. It's possible to add mesh components via ModuleManager configs (an example would be the color-coded discs on top of engines and the like, in the Color Coded Canisters mod). Light-up window panels could be added on top of the stock models. It's just tricky (and somewhat time consuming) for the modder to get the size and positioning right, which is why I'll probably never get to it personally.
