Okay, everyone. Better nip this in the bud now.

I've decided to wipe the scoreboard. New entry rules are now in effect. Since the f3 debug menu is so inconsistent, it will no longer be used.

Check the "submission guidelines" for the new rules.

I believe my first two submissions should still be valid, because both the highest altitude and payload travel distance was shown clearly. But if the proving ground is leveled, then lets start anew.

I liked my first design. But it felt a little... Meh.

I chose night because I'm too lazy to timewarp because I forgot it's gonna look worse for better visibility of the vessel marker. Yeah, that's it. :D

I can take some pictures during daytime and/or provide .craft file, if it's necessary.

An idea for measuring final distance.

Maybe add a parachute to the standard payload? Which you could stage right before landing? If they payload survives, then you could see the distance to the launch vehicle by just making it your target.

Will resubmit my submissions late with new measurements :) Had some idea bout now to get more power! :D

Thanks for putting me up on the leaderboard :) I just wanted to correct one thing, I shouldn't have the Environmentalist badge (and the accompanying points) - my design could concievably be reloadable, but it's not yet implemented.

How do you make a rotor in stock?

Here's one way that I'm just working on at the moment:

You build it as one piece from the bottom up. The bit from the decoupler up separates when you fire the decoupler and becomes the rotor/axle. The rotor is then supported on the small gear bays.

I like that--you're using half the bearings I am, I have separate races for radial and thrust bearings.

Every time I try something like that, it seems like the rotor falls out/through the gear bays. Is there a limit on how much they can support?
Yup and how fast they can be spun too. If you use 8 gears though it can be fairly sturdy.

Its a new-to-me design, though I bet someone will have gone there before.

One advantage, apart the need for less gears, is that if you make the bottom set a bit tight and the top set a bit loose then when you blow the coupler the rotor pops up a bit and you don't have the risk of drag against the coupler.

I did a tension based catapult. :3 Seemed to be the easiest competition wise. 150 Tons of pure tension and boom!

I need screenshots of the payload at apoapsis (Or the f3 debug with Maximum Altitude) and the moment of impact of the payload with the catapult and distance to catapult in view. The f3 window for distance traveled is incorrect.

by the way guys, "control from here" on your payload before you launch it to get a true measure of distance, etc.

There are no measurements in those screenshots, though they look nice. I need numbers! :)
