Need advice about rocket parts mods.

Recommended Posts

I have always used KW rocketry in the past for my heavy lifting. I decided not to use KW rocketry in 0.90 because first all the top post hasn't been edited with a link to the updated mod file (if one has been created), and two KW Rocketry has just too many parts, many of which I don't use. To have so many parts that I don't use just puts a strain on the system, especially since I will be using alot of other parts mods.

So what did I use KW Rocketry for.

1. It had some very powerful solid rocket boosters. This is something that the base game lacks, as their only 2 types of SRBs in the stock parts. I forgot what the most powerful ones were called, but if I attached to of those things to a just a command capsule, it would already be more than 100,000 meters up before the SRB ran out of fuel. That is some awesome rocket power, and I used to launch my heaviest payloads.

2. It had very thin stack decouplers. One of the major problems I have with the stock stack decouplers is that most of them are crazy thick. To save on weight I like my decouplers to be thin.

So is there another mod that just gives me extremely powerful SRBs and very thin stack decouplers.

KW works fine in .90 and you can delete all the parts you don't use in some installs, I have just the Booster and Fairings & FairingBases.

EDIT- Now if you just want a Great Looking Launcher this as got to be one of best Horizon Aeronautics http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/16866-Horizon-Aeronautics-Development-Thread

It is from around .24 but works Great

I know how you can get procedural parts/fairings and tweakscale installed together:

1- get new ksp

2 - download tweakscale, procedural parts, and procedural fairings

3 - start up the game

4- quit the game

5 - move saves and stuff over

Now Tweakscale and Procedural parts will work together without* any ksp death bugs.

*means that it may or may not actually be foolproof*

I used procedural parts yesterday during my failed attempt at the challenge i made for myself this weekend due to my problems with Remote Tech 2. I like how thin the stack decouplers were, but I did not see any controls to adjust the sizes of the parts. It was for that reason that i decided not to use the boosters that the mod adds, as I did not see any controls to adjust anything.

You have to right click on parts to customize them, after you attached them to your vessel.

This. You just have to watch out for auto shroud files that are for some reason hidden between the fairings.
