kerbals ins lost tab don't respawn (lost tab shows 0 missing)

Recommended Posts

Lost tab shows missing kerbals but claims 0 are missing. Also i can't delete them or remove them. They haven't respawned in quite some time, and last time this happened it ended up crashing my save game permanently.

How do i fix this? I would rather save this game.

I believe you have permadeath turned on in the game difficulty settings. Hence the KIA. Otherwise they would be marked MIA.

I don't know. This is a science mode save with "respawn dead kerbals" checked on. Several of my other kerbals died and came back. I had this same exact problem when my previous save crashed.

Seems like a bug then.

Theory: You have another game where its turned on, switching between saves breaks it?

Theory: You changed the settings midgame? Perhaps before they died and then back afterwards?

Anyway, only workaround would be to edit the save game. Change their status to available.

I would tend to agree, that perhaps the setting is not where you thought it was when you started (or that maybe it was, and changed for some reason).

I can't exactly remember which all settings you can change on the fly (once a game is started), but you can make a copy of your persistence.sfs file, then edit it.

First, look for this section:

DIFFICULTY
{
AutoHireCrews = True
MissingCrewsRespawn = True
BypassEntryPurchaseAfterResearch = True
AllowStockVessels = True
IndestructibleFacilities = False
}

If "MissingCrewsRespawn" says "False" then change it.

Also, you can go down to the end of the file (where the "Crew" section is).

Look for the following:

KERBAL
{
name = Jebediah Kerman
type = Crew
brave = 0.5
dumb = 0.5
badS = True
state = Available
ToD = 0
idx = 0
CAREER_LOG
{
flight = 1
0 = Recover
}
FLIGHT_LOG
{
flight = 1
}
}

For "state = Dead" change it to "state = Available"

Cheers,

~Claw
