Kerbal navigation to contract locations

Recommended Posts

I'm having quite the difficulty to get my Kerbals to locations I need to be to perform science. Especially on the Mun and Minmus.

when I get a contract to do some EVA reports / surface samples on the Mun I have a hard time getting my kerbals on EVA to the exact location. Since there is no navbal in EVA and the Mun has a fairly boring grey surface I end up flying my kerbal past the location.

Is there a simple mod or trick I can use to get my kerbals in the right heading to the contract location ?

Staying in the lander until you're in the area isn't optimal fuel-wise, but it's the easiest. Just click on the nav-point in map mode and click "activate navigation", locate the point in question on the nav-ball and fly there. That's what works best for me.

Sure, Waypoint Manager will show you the locations of the waypoints within the flight view.

That's awesome... I hadn't heard of it before now.

I've used rovers for this, but navigation is just "drive that way and hope you hit it." Navball doesn't help.

To get the navball to be more useful for rovers (showing heading and level) you need to either place a docking port in the front, or rotate your probe core. Or use the external seat for manned rovers.

Waypoint manager is awesome! Tnx guys!

And yeah, I sometimes build rovers and sometimes I go on EVA. It is whatever the mission needs and what I got. If I already got a crew somewhere and a contract pops up. Why not take it?
