Hi! I managed to recover somehow my 0.9 F-22, i had to use 4 engines (2 clipped) for obtain a decent sea level speed (about mach 1).

She is realistically manouverable with a Maximum G of 10-11.

Warning, fuel consuption is really high due the 4 engines, but there is enough time to have some fun with it, sorry guys but this is the best i could do with 1.0 without change too much the aesthetic of the craft from 0.90.

The most accurate replica i could build of this awesome plane, she respect at 95% the proportions of the real one.

comparison of the real F-22 raptor blueprints with my build

youtuber Guard13007 did a review of this craft! check it here

Parts: 212

CONTROLS

-1 toggle engines

-0 toggle hidden ladder

-4 open/close missile bay (only esthetical in this stock version)

VERY IMPORTANT

Before take off click on the small probe clipped inside the front nosecone and select: CONTROL FROM HERE, this will adjust the horizon of the craft, modified due the angled cockpit. If you switch to IVA you need to reset control from here.

I completely disagree. Eorin basically got the shape of the F-22 raptor almost perfect. There are some areas of the craft where he traded smoothness for shape, but that's not the point. His positioning is definitely correct. Sorry, but:

First pic is real life f-22 over Eorin's, second is the same with the actual f-22 of real life at 50% opacity.

Ohh, and Eorin, feel free to use the images to show off how good your building skills are.

It really looks great. I have not seen a replica that accurate before for quite a while. That being said I really am wondering about the actual in-game performance of the craft. Also I think it could use a customized cockpit with an ejector seat.

Don't take those criticisms negatively. This is awesome. The sharpened nose cone especially.

nice but i would put some smal control surface's over the engine's to get the f22 engine shape

I've tried (you can see that in the work in progress thread), but the surfaces caused trouble with the engines probably for exaust collision, then i've chosen a more simple way to go, for now.

Btw thx manni01 for your comparison pictures!

Only if KSP had the same levels of thrust vectoring as the Raptor has....

F-22 has only pitch (2d) thrust vectoring I believe. Not sure about the precise angles tho.

But I don't think handling is the first priority here anyway

And it does look really close indeed.

Also at 1.0 release this cockpit will have a new EVA pretty cool news for this craft (among others).

I agree that the engines are the weak spot and need a bit of additional work to look closer to the P&W F119 (maybe 4 small flaps that move when you pitch?)

already tried the 4 small flaps, they don't work due to engine exaust collision. Aniways... download link added on the main post, small modifications on the looks, some adjustements. Added even a BD armory version with 4 sidewinders inside the missile bay and a vulcan cannon.

UPDATE! modified the engines so you can be happy now u.u it looks more like a trhust vectoring engines, plus now she has more range 300fuel more. See main post, the download links are replaced, the BD armory version too.

Fantastic replica, I think this is more accurate than either my F-15 or my A-10, both of which consumed a lot of hours of build time so I know exactly how much work has gone into this.

I will have to look into stock revamp, a lot of those hours were spent on noses and empennages (although then they wouldn't be stock anymore so... maybe not! :P )
