base

For coolness points and prove to all kerbalkind that your space program is amazing.

In all seriousness though they will have a much larger purpose when resources come into the game. You will be able to have a station overhead and a base drilling and refining and then have that fuel transported upto the station essentially free of charge once the infrastructure is in place.

can someone explain me the purpose of building bases, let's say mun base?

stations are used for refuelling right?

but what's the purpose of bases?

At the moment not a lot, but what's the point of sending pixels to other pixels on a computer game?

Do what you enjoy.

My current bases are for sweet f a.

They used to be for kethane mining.

Bases can also be used for refueling of landers, so you don't have to haul all the fuel to landand then going back up to orbit. A research base can also process and cleanup science modules on a science rover, and provide a boost to transmission.

Ultimately, what's the point of doing anything in KSP? Bases on Mun are useful as an exercise in doing something different and solving the problems of getting the various parts there and assembling them once they are. It's all part of the gaming experience that KSP is capable of providing.
