Check for updates isn't working?

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow kerbals,

First I apologize if I posted this in wrong section. It's been quite some time, and I hate to admit it but actually years since I've played. My question is how do I get the updates? (and yes I already purchased this game along time ago) I know there has been updates since i was away and I know i missed some. However when I click "Check for updates" nothing happens except all the writing on the screen goes un highlighted and not clickable. Any help or tips on how I can resolve this issue and get the updates would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there.

If you bought the game through the store, you should be able to log into the KSP store and find your purchases there.

If you bought the game on Steam, or transferred your purchase from the store to Steam, then the game should be in your Steam library and downloadable/updateable in the same way as any other Steam game.

If you're still having trouble redeeming your purchase, you can contact Squad via email at [email protected], though please bear in mind the offices are closed during weekends.

Ahhh I see, yeah i see where I can download my purchase again. I wasn't sure if I hit "download" if it was just going to download/reinstall the same game I got back on 2013-05-22 or if it was going to come with the updates? (Also I got it for mac & never transferred to steam if that makes a difference. Also do you know if the update will have me keep my current missions going? Thank you for the help and information!!! :D

Downloading from the store will always give you the most up-to-date version available. :)

As for whether you keep your saves, you'll be able to back them up (make a copy of your save folder(s), which will be inside the Saves folder in your Kerbal Space Program install as folders named what you named the save file) and then copy them back in to keep your saves.

Do be warned, however, that the game may not be able to properly parse the older saves. Sometimes changes made in updates break the saves a bit, and while they might load, they sometimes won't run without some truly odd glitches. If you do experience any weird issues, the first thing you'll want to try is starting a new save, to see if that's the cause.

Good luck! :)
