All Stock Skylab and Apollo CM Replica

Well, I haven't had a lot of time for KSP lately and it ain't gonna get much better, so here's another replica! Skylab was the first American space station, and was inhabited on and off until its fiery demise in 1979 over western Australia.

Craft Info: Skylab is 225 parts and 27 tons, Apollo is 38 parts and 28 tons. It has a crew capacity of 4.

Now for some beauty shots!

i'll try to be constructive critic -

The apollo CSM body is shorter in real life, and only the bell nozzle sticks out of the service module :) (it also only has 4 sets of 4-way RCS arranged around the COM.

Regarding the Skylab, seems that you sent it up in one single piece with the telescope mount already fixed on the side (guess you had to use counterweights of sorts to compensate during the launch)

The skylab did not have a conical part near the telescope mount.

Basically, during the launch of the real thing, the telescope was lined up with the skylab (in front of the docking port) - the whole thing was protected by fairings extending from the largest part of the fairing - once in orbit, the telescope mount was shifted to the side :)

Here's some sites with some infos and pictures :)

Check those, and i'm sure you'll be able to improve your replica :)

Don't stick only to the 'main' features :) try to go into a bit more details for replicas :)

There's plenty of interesting technical data about almost any rocket we would want to replicate :)

I'll be honest- I threw this together in not much over an hour, and without Internet access. I know the Apollo is inaccurate, I had that engine configuration all ready and though I'd give it a spin. As for the RCS thrusters, I'm planning a full redesign anyway as part of one of many upcoming projects. I will be gone for the next week or so, goin' on a trip. Don't worry, I'll have plenty to do when I get back, but don't expect another craft from me for at least two weeks.

The solar panels seem a bit too small compared to that massive 3.75 meter tank. I would have used the Gigantor XL panels instead.

Perhaps, but while the Gigantors are a bit wider, they're not nearly long enough and I dislike their look when rotated.
