What do the intersection pairs mean?

Recommended Posts

I understand the orange and purple sets of icons represent an intersection but what do the pairs mean? ie the pair of arrows pointing up and down which can move apart or be closer together, What is the meaning if they are closer together. Sometimes there is only one arrow on one of them. What does that mean?

Please explain, I cannot find any explanation of their meaning on any tutorial.

One arrow in each pair shows your position during closest encouter, second shows your target's position. Orange pair is for the first encounter, purple is for second.

Thankyou very much Khazar, so they represent the respective positions of my ship and the object I am targeting? that makes a lot more sense :)

Yes, they repesent you and your target at the point in time the intercept (or lack of) occurs. Also, I never remember which one is which, but if you hover your mouse over them, one will say "target position..." while the other won't. Obviously, the one tha tays target is the target position and the other one is you.
