Debian Wheezy compatibility

Recommended Posts

KSP Version: 1.0 Running on Debian 7 Wheezy

What Happens: Fails to run

Mods / Add-Ons: No mods or add-ons.

Steps to Replicate:

Install from ksp-linux-1-0-0.zip as per instructions on a vanilla Debian Wheezy install.

Launch from either the KSP.x86 or KSP.x86_64 executable.

Result:

Error when launched from Command Line:

./KSP.x86: /lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.15' not found (required by ./KSP.x86)

(note: Wheezy uses GLIBC_2.13 - KSP 0.90.0 ran happily on unmodified Wheezy)

Fixes/Workarounds: In principle, Debian 8 Jessie resolves this as it uses GLIBC_2.19, but fix not tested as it would require an update to Jessie (Jessie was not released when 1.0 was announced for release).

Other Notes/Pictures/Log Files: Possibly not impacting other Debian based distributions such as Unbuntu as they often implement updated Libraries.

Hi Kaardvark, officially the Unity3D engine (and KSP) only really supports Ubuntu LTS and above, and while KSP can run on other distros it needs the libs that Ubuntu ships with.

"ldd KSP.x86" will show if anything else is missing :)
