Is it just me?... [1.0 aero]

Recommended Posts

Is it just me, or does the new aero give aircraft uber glide rates below 3000m. The two aircraft I've thrown together since getting 1.0 seem to have extraordinary glide rates, as in I can shut the engine down at 10km out and still be doing well over 100 m/s when I come in over the end of the runway, and that's if I'm not doing over 250 m/s at the 10km mark. These are smallish aircraft so the airbrake doesn't fit them very well... Tweakscale may very well be the order of the day for the airbrake!

Are you aware that you can assign regular control surfaces to behave as air breaks as well? Using the actual airbreak part is unnecessary, you may want to consider using some of those instead.

Aaaaaand he's experienced realistic aerodynamics. :D

1.0 is a place where this can fly:

("Fly" is kinda pushing it. More like a really, really long jump, some kilometers long. It'll eventually fall from the sky when it bleeds off enough speed, but it can gain several hundred meters in height under its own power)

Quick question, largely because I haven't played 1.0 long enough to figure it out for myself yet - how do you set up Elevons to behave as flaps/spoilers in 1.0? I know you could do that sort of thing in FAR with action groups, but you had to tell the part you wanted it to behave as a flap or spoiler first; there doesn't seem to be that sort of thing yet.

Should probably mention I haven't upgraded my SPH past Level 1 just yet. I have built a couple of bush-planes for parts testing low in the tech tree, and I too find I'm coming over the runway way too fast.

You assign the control surface either a toggle/extend/retract command to an action group. Or in flight you can right click the control surface for the options and hit deploy (or wording similar) - can you even edit basic action groups in the basic SPH?

No, if you are playing career mode you will have to upgrade the SPH at least once to get access to basic action groups (and upgrade fully to unlock custom action groups).
