Left-Click Induces KSP To 'Not Respond', Game Breaking!

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, I'm here because I have a problem that cropped up after I downloaded KSP 1.0 :( .

Basically, whenever I press the left button on my mouse in KSP, it makes KSP have a split-second (Not Responding) notice on the top of the window, and it also shifts down and sideways a bit when it does so. It happens on every occasion, as soon as I start KSP up. The launcher seems to have the same problem. It makes ksp unplayable because I can't really fly anything when every click I do on the screen makes the game get 'stuck up' for a split-second. I really would like to know if there is a fix or imcompability issues that happened with 1.0, because in 0.90 I ran the game at 30fps and now it is also at 30fps, but with this game-breaking phenomenon that gets the game to hang up foor an isntant. Also when I Tab-out I can't get the game to show up again, even thought it is on my taskbar. Double-clicking KSP on task manager has no effect.

My games is fully stock, out of the Installer. I don't know if installing it makes it do this, but it might be important. The game does not crash at any point, it just hangs up until I force-shutdown the game. I never heard of anyone having this problem either, so I'm at a loss for what to do.

System Specs:

Windows 8

6gig RAM (I know ksp can't use more than 2.5gb or so)

AMD Series Radeon HD 7670M

Processor : Intel® Core i3-3120M CPU @ 2.50GHz, 2500 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)

Hmm, okay, the log says you are running KSP from the desktop, unfortunately this is known to be bad as DEP can prevent KSP from working correctly.

The copy on the desktop will now be flagged as potentially malicious, so moving it elsewhere won't help, the OS will still treat the files as a risk.

To get around this, copy the whole folder to a new place that isn't protected by DEP, we recommend C:\Games as you make this file yourself and Windows has no control over it.

The copy should work, once you're sure it's fine you can delete the copy on the desktop, and make a shortcut to the "new" KSp.exe, the shortcut can be on the desktop and will be fine.

If the problem persists let us know :)

UPDATE:

Copying over KSP to C:/Games didn't work. I tried to manually disable DEP for KSP but it said the game couldn't run without DEP enabled for it. I think the problem may be related to the new mouse pointer, because it seems to only happen with left-click, which is when it changes to green. Any help on the matter would be appreciated, even if to say my KSP is broken.

I just tried disabling Avast for a while and KSP was the only thing that was using any significant amount of memory. It didn't fix or ease the problem at all as far as I noticed. No errors showed up on the debug menu either, so KSP is running properly by itself. I think it is a problem to do with a computer setting or something, but I'm no computer guru, so I don't know. :(

Alright then, I'll do a clean boot and post the results. Also, I'm going do download the .zip version of KSP to see if it isn't a problem with the installer if this persists.

Okay, the clean boot didn't work at all, (but made my PC startup way faster) so I'm going to download the .zip from the KSP Store later and see if that fixes it.

EDIT: I fixed it! Apparently KSP isn't friendly to Windows 8. When I hanged the compability settings to Windows 7 it started working! Who would've guessed it? Thanks for putting up with my suffering sal_vager!
