Force OpenGL and Nvidia Anti Aliasing

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

As you probably know, when we use the launch option "-force-opengl" (as explain in this thread), unfortunately the Anti Aliasing doesn't work anymore.

For the 0.90 KSP version, I found a trick to have AA anyway by using the Nvidia configuration.

Only the first option was necessary : FXAA activated. The other one on the screenshot was not.

(sorry I'm french, so options are in my language)

The result looked like this :

Unfortunately, the trick doesn't work so well anymore since KSP 1.0 has been released.

Nvidia Anti Aliasing improves the result just a little bit, but not as much as expected.

Some idea about what happened with the new release ?

I've tried the -force-opengl launch command in both 1.0 and 1.0.1(modded and vanilla) and just get this pop-up:

KSP then crashes. Any ideas?

Try to delete your settings.cfg in KSP folder, and then try again. Looks like that you have some conflict between actual and requested screen resolutions.

Cheers for the speedy response but alas it didn't work. Deleted the file and tried again - didn't work. Deleted KSP from Steam(in case there was possibly something else I had changed) and re-installed - didn't work. Exactly the same message as above

I tracked my missing antialiasing problems down to having "fullscreen" checked in KSP's settings.

I never have fullscreen checked. I've tried it both with and without it checked and still no luck :(

EDIT - New found solution(for me anyway). Turns out the HDMI cables were to blame. Opengl didn't like either of my HDMI cables but works perfectly(for now) using DVI cables. Full explanation at the link below:

Another update on OpenGL antialiasing problems. I was able to reslove all antialiasing issues by forcing the settings in Nvidia Inspector, not the Nvidia control panel, following this somewhat outdated guide and by not switching away from KSP once it's been loaded.

Important: The guide shows an older version of Nvidia Inspector. The newer version breaks out some settings separately for OpenGL (OGL) and DX9 (DX). Make sure you set both fields.
