"New" way to orbit?

Recommended Posts

I was looking for orbital instructions, and found that the guide in the Wiki notes that it's outdated because of the new atmosphere modeling.

So.... what's the new technique?

thanks,

Andrew

With a rocket? Fins on the back end, weight at the front end, don't make sharp turns. That's about it :)

They probably haven't updated it to new advice because the aerodynamics has a habit of changing recently ;)

I can still get into orbit.

..but I use 95% of my fuel in doing so and can't get to the Mun anymore. This is quite the change from my earlier Joolian adventures!

Actually, you don't need thrust vectoring. If you follow a good gravity turn procedure (demonstrated

all you need is an initial push over (doable with any level of SAS) then it's all about throttle control, and letting gravity and time naturally turn your rocket.
