Help, will my laptop play the game?

Hey,

I've been playing the demo, and this game seems really great. So I'm considering buying it, but I need some opinions regarding my laptop's ability to play it.

I'm a console gamer, so it's rare I play a PC game, hence why my laptop isn't great, but KSP seems too good to ignore.

I'm not expecting to build like 1000 part rockets, but I want to basically be sure I'll be able to do most things, on the low settings, i.e. space stations etc.

Here's my laptop's details, sorry about the colouring, I can't seem to change it.

Windows 7 64 bit- Sony Vaio

Video card:

Intel® HD Graphics 3000

Pixel Shader Version - 4.1

Vertex Shader version - 4.1

Dedicated Video RAM - 64mb

CPU:

Intel® Core i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30GHz

RAM:

4.0 gb

I'd appreciate the help, incase I make a mistake of buying a game that'll break. Also, if anyone does have any recommended settings that'd be great.

Thanks :)

I would recommend a good laptop cooler fan underneath... I have an i5-2450M, Intel HD3000, with an Nvidia GT630M graphics GPU... (KSP uses the Nvidia)... Oh, my laptop is a 17.3"...

I use a Thermaltake Massive23 cooling fan underneath ALWAYS when running KSP... I have had my laptop shutdown often when running KSP without the fan...Laptop gets extremely hot...

WITH the fan, it's shutdown only maybe once or twice?...But I always really push tons of mods, too..I wont run KSP without the fan.

Also, I think it runs a lot cooler now, with 1.0/1.0.2 version of the game...I think one of the things they did that had the most impact on resource usage was going to .dds textures...

I never really thought running a certain piece of software could kill a computer, till I started playing KSP with no cooling on my laptop...$30 for a good laptop fan is cheap insurance...

It's better than my laptop (Except I've got 6 gigs RAM) and mine plays KSP just fine. I think you'll have a dandy time playing the game. Just make sure that your cleaning fans and vents are all cleaned out, I dropped my temperatures by 35+ degrees Fahrenheit just by cleaning dust out of the comp and the fan. Most laptops have overheat protection, they'll shut down automatically if they get too hot, so clean your vents and get a cooler like Blue said. I don't use a cooler myself, though I probably should, but if you don't have enough money or time you could probably find a fan laying around and imitate this strapping young lad:
