Unwanted torque in space

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Since 1.0 is out, I'm having a problem I didn't see before.

When I'm in space, all engines off, SAS disabled, my ship (or space station) often starts to spin like a dervish and there's no way to stop it other than disable torque in the menus.

I couldn't find a reported bug about it, weird...

Any idea? Thank you.

Try pressing Alt+X.

There's a feature where pressing Alt+W/A/S/D/Q/E changes the default position of stability SAS (from centre to whichever direction your tell it); ie: press Alt+A and your ship will start to rotate left (if facing horizon, surface below)

You may have pressed Alt + any other key accidentally.

Alt+X resets the SAS back to the centre.

Yes, i've done this many times, usually when trying to turn a craft with a large moment of inertia and weak torque, such that it takes a while. I would try turning with the a,s,d,w,e,q keys (whatever i needed to do) and then simultaneously, with my other hand, press alt+> key, to enter physical time warp. Thus, i enter time warp, but also adjust my trim by accident, since i pressed alt+(a,s,d,q,w,e) at the same time

That's most likely what happened to the OP?

I'm reopening my topic instead of creating a new one, since it looks the same, but it must be a different case.

This time, I'm certain the default position is centered.

When SAS is enabled, my space station looks perfectly stable.

But as soon as I disable SAS, as long as torque is running on any wheel or can of the station, it begins to roll clockwise, then counter-clockwise, and so on, around the initial state.

And I can't see no reason why my station wants to jiggle!
