  1. Un épisode récent de la Méthode Scientifique parlait de propulsion spatiale, ergols, etc... https://www.franceculture.fr/emissions/la-methode-scientifique/voyage-spatial-vers-linfini-et-au-dela
  2. Every time this subject shows up, igniting people's souls and beliefs, I don't know how I feel... Before looking for alien life forms, we should agree on what "life" means. On Earth. No, really, I think there's a fondamental flaw in this quest. Are we just looking for self-reproducting objects emitting vague random signals? Definitely not people's dreams. Or maybe "conscious" beings for other worlds, same as us or more advanced? So childish. Our own science seems to tell us that "consciousness" is a meaningless overrated phenomenom. In a way, aliens are right here, in our courtyards. Ever talked to a tree?
  3. Watch live broadcast: http://www.arianespace.com/mission/ariane-flight-vs16/ First 2017 launch, from French Guiana Spaceport.
I guess I'll stick to English, sadly.
  5. A recent PBS Space Time episode talking about the subject.
  6. I can't remember exactly, but maybe you can help me... How does Bohm's approach deal with delayed choice experiments? What kind of super-pilot-wave? I love quantum mechanics. At first you get into it with the feeling you can find a reasonable explanation, and you end up believing Everett had the most rational mind! (where observation means the observer is simply an object intricated with the observed object, in the context of an infinity of branching universes)
  7. Oh, now I understand why it has an aerodynamic shape. For maximum impact velocity at ground level.
  9. With practice and technique (see @suicidejunkie's post), you'll see it's not difficult to land inside a <200 meters circle around your target on Mün. For a higher precision, things are getting tough. On Minmus, it's much much more easy. You can comfortably land vertically close to your base (about 20 meters, in order to plug a KAS pipe and refuel). Well, it depends a lot on your ship too. On Mün, not doing things right can cost a lot of dV. Frequent and reliable operations (I hate F5) require wheels for the last meters.
  10. c is the maximum speed when you look at the universe locally. But with cosmic expansion, you get relative speeds far beyond the speed of light. And since expansion seems to be accelarating... well... just do nothing, and wait for the Big Rip! :-)
  11. Such mysterious messages often happened beyond Jool atmosphere in the past (I didn't check recently) or in other conditions. But right now, I'm orbiting Kerbin, altitude 88k and I can't see any special acceleration around. Just passively orbiting Kerbin. Never had this before the latest patch. I'm certain there's a technical reason for this message (trajectory that can't be put on a rail?). But the message itself is at least misleading, don't you think?
  12. 2 different suggestions: - I often forget to name/rename my ships. Renaming them afterwards from the tracking station would be easier. - I think there's no vessel type for satellite. I'd like it, instead of calling them stations or probes.
  13. Oh, it was working this way in 1.0.5 and before too and I never noticed?!?
  14. When you're in the tracking station and accelerate time x100000, battery power of probes without any power source don't change. During flight, it vanishes in no time (normal behaviour). Just put any probe core on the launch pad, go to tracking station and fast forward as long as you want, come back look at the part. (Windows, 1.1.2, 32 or 64, new install from zip)
  15. I see the same annoying bug very frequently. When entering a building, you are sent immediately back to space center. The game seems to work like if the right screen is displayed (you can click on invisible items if you're lucky). SPH and VAB are still working though. Leaving to start menu is not enough, must restart the game. Win10 - KSP 64 bits - i4770 16GB - Radeon 7770 - Radeon driver 16.3.2.
  17. At first, I couldn't see the x86_64 version in the official 1.1.0 I downloaded. A few hours laters, I noticed the package had changed, twice as big, even if the file had the same name. Ok, fresh win x86_64 install, new game. I went to the SPH, and loaded some of the new demo rovers... bad idea... ...Crash to desktop in less than 5 minutes. I waited patiently for a stable release before coming back to the game, but it seems we are still in beta.
  18. Same for me. I always give career mode a chance everytime a new KSP version comes out. Don't know why exactly, still hoping for a better system I suppose. It's just a series of random uninteresting missions, and easy to collect questionable science points.
  19. Oh yes! Space communications based on infinite light speed would definitely be a bad thing in a "space program game".
  20. Since you're talking about menus, I think some items may need a change for better consistency. Usually when a menu action is possible, you get: - the text description of the action ("Activate engine"), - the blue button that triggers the action (click to activate the engine). But sometimes, it's a different logic, because the text describes the object status, and not the action. This is very confusing at first. For instance, on a RAPIER engine, you get something like: - "Manual switching" (the status), - and when you click, you change the status. ---------- Another idea, less cosmetic. It's never easy to exactly transfer the quantity of fuel you want. That would be cool if you could set the cursor, and then ask for the transfer.
  21. When I have to leave Kerbals on a planet, I always tell them that one day they will return. Give them hope at least. And I always keep my promises, even if Jebediah once had to survive for 50 years on Eve.
  22. Ion drive at full power is nice when solar power is high. (Typically good when navigating around Moho) Otherwise, I never use it. The game is just not meant for it, when "accelerating on rails". You would need a progressive slow ion thrust for probes heading to outer planets.
