I do have unlocked solar panels and batteries, along with 2 different probe cores and the first 2 antennas. I even have 0.625m parts such as decouplers, adapters, etc.

And yet no satellite contracts. I only seem to get rescue or tourists contracts (the latter being even more dull than satellites ones if you ask me).

I play almost stock ; i only have Chatterer installed.

then it should appear after rejecting several existing contracts. they don't appear that often as it was in 0.90

tourism is dull, agree. but, in 1.0.x I think rescue is more attractive than satellite now... satellite now have no science if no additional equipment, and doesn't reward as much as rescues - rescues rewards are competitive by itself, plus it saves your hiring cost (which is a LOT), plus it's possible to batch them up (in the sense that you can accept rescue contracts after launching a rescue vessel). imagine I got several probe+hitchhiker or even just 2 pods on orbit just waiting for incoming rescues...

How about firing those rescued kerbals ? I remember there was a bug that if you fired kerbal that had some experience it could break your save in some way (can't remember how exactly). Is this bug gone now ? Can i fire unwanted kerbals without fear ?

I would just not try it... There is no reason to fire a kerbal, and if there's a risk that it might break the game, then.... just keep the kerbals x)
