Ability to permit SAS to use reaction wheels while RCS is used by player for translation

Recommended Posts

The SAS can be wasteful due to its frequent overshooting and furthermore it can interfere with delicate docking translation by squirting RCS around unnecessarily. I'd like SAS to be able to maintain my attitude while I translate using RCS but it's currently not possible to do that. Please allow control over whether SAS can use RCS.

Agree with OP.

SAS needs major overhaul.

SAS overshoots all time.

SAS becomes crazy and kicks controls left and right, until it shakes craft apart.

SAS cannot hold direction and drifts under small, but continuous disturbing force.

SAS cannot be switched to airplane mode, with "hold altitude", "hold airspeed", "hold heading", "yaw dump", - there is mods, but...

SAS cannot be switched into partial mode, "You hold the attitude, I work with translation".

There is no "SAS config panel", where you can switch RCS from "Off", "SAS-All", "SAS-Attitude", "manual only". And switch every RCS port "Off", "Fine", "Full" without trying to find it on craft in total darkness. And PID adjustments. (Mods, I know).

SAS should analyze craft after loading, staging, on command, and calculate control coefficients.

I like your additional suggestions. It would be great to have that kind of granular control over SAS!
