Behold the tri-pod! Absurd constructions of necessity?

So far the early career in 1.0.1/2 feels a good deal harder than in Beta and earlier, and I'm really digging the odd solutions it keeps making me come up with.

So here's something it would never have occurred to me to build earlier. But with the mk1-2 capsule midway down the tech tree, it's the only way to get 3 seats to orbit, and thus lets me double/triple stack contracts -- rescue a kerbonaut, carry an orbital tourist, and maybe also grab some science or test a part.

How did you handle the ascent? I ran into a whole of drag and resistance when attempting the same setup. My rocket almost completely tumbled over, I was able to keep it from crashing into the ground, but I wasted a lot of fuel trying to get into the upper atmosphere.

I've made some similar junk.

I'll spare everyone the pictures of all my ridiculous test rigs for "Test X part landed on Kerbin / at the launch site" since you can surely guess what happened there.

EDIT: Here's a REAL derpmachine I made earlier today. I needed to clean up a lot of "shipwrecks" from completed rescue missions, and that meant lots of klaws...

Most of what you see here is the launch vehicle, but note the daisy chain of klaws on the front. I was more or less begging for some kind of glitch to happen xD
